Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me some good exercises to tone and shape my butt. I want to firm it up, stop the sag, and make it bigger.
For cardiovascular I speed walk as often as i can (3-5 days a week), but I feel my butt could use a bit more curve.
Thanks!

Squats, whether weighted or body-weight only are great for the calves, things, hamstrings, back and glutes. Swimming is also good for the butt.

Kneeling kickbacks or "butt blasters" are excellent glute exercises, and my personal favorite. Many gyms have machines that provide resistance to the exercise, but you can do it with resistance tubing, ankle weights or nothing at all...
The movement is like this:
kneel on the ground on all fours.
kick one foot straight up and back, keeping knee bent slightly.
return to original position. repeat and alternate legs.
Standing kickbacks, lunges, squats and leg presses also work the glutes well. There is a web page I like (that I shouldn't post here) that has excellent descriptions and pictures of all kinds of exercises. If you're interested, mail me at: impetus0@hotmail.com
Hope thats helpful

can you ice skate or rollerblade? correct "stroking" is an amazing exercise for the butt. The joke amoung figure skaters is that everyone ends up with a big butt. lol
It is also a great if not often recommended crosstrain for running as different muscle groups are stregthened.

Actually, it's interesting that you mention ice skating and rollerblading.
I used to be a hockey player until i injured my ankle badly last season. I was on 2 teams and was definitely more in shape then i am now. Since I haven't played since the end of last season, i've been getting a little flabbier. I wanted to try and tone up again.
Thanks anyway, though! When my ankles back in shape, i'll be right back on my skates & blades.
