View Full Version : Anybody bloated?

I have acid reflux and take Prilosec daily. I also have irritable bowel syndrome.

I am ALWAYS bloated. I'm generally average weight, but sometimes the bloating gives me a full feeling that discourages me from eating regularly. So I've lost a lot of weight recently. When I get a hug, my loved ones comment on how bony I've become.

But that stupid uncomfortable bloating is still there, especially when I eat.

Anybody ever figure out how to lessen the severity?

Hi

I have acid reflux and IBS and have bloating all the time. I also have asthma and have been on prednisone alot which causes weight gain and swelling. I wish I could find a medication as well for the bloating because it is a very uncomfortable feeling. I have lost about 15 pounds in the last month due to reflux and possible other problems that I will be having tests for eventually.
I have to wait until April to see a specialist.
Good luck to you both. Let me know if you do find something for the bloating.

Karen and Kellir,

Thanks so much for your replies. It does help to know that I'm not the only one with the bloating issue.

Rest assured, if I find out how to relieve the bloating, I will definitely let you know.

My best to you both,

Nikki

Hi Nikki & Kellir

I hope you are both doing ok. Just to let you know, I am going to the dr tommorrow and I will ask him if there is anything he knows to do about bloating. I will let you know what he says.
Take care of yourselves.

Sometimes my lower abdominal area gets bloated which feels like it is more related to gas but I especially hate when my upper abdominal area, like right in my stomach, gets bloated. That is so uncomfortable. I have not found anything that helps either.

I chew one of those fiber tablets in the morning and eat Whole grain bread instead of white breat. This seems to have stopped any bloating or pressure in my stomach along with the constipation. The most I'll have it now is one day, when before my stomach would be full of pressure for 5 days straight.

Hi

I went to the doc today but I did not have my dr because he was not there today and the dr I saw did not have any solutions for the bloating. I will see him next week and will ask him if he has any ideas to solve the bloating.

Thanks for the ideas about the fibre pill and the whole wheat bread.

OMG I am so tired of this damned bloating and even though I feel bad for you guys I'm also glad it's not just me;) I have it right now and I can't take it anymore. Ate a small lunch but it feels like someone pumped my belly with air.
Why can't some doctor find relief for us. I have GERD, BE and IBS. I do take zelnorm and it does help but I would like it to help everyday. Well thanks for listening to my complaining all. Have a good weekend. Take care, Linda:)

Hello all BLOATER'S,
I feel your discomfort!
I have Crohn's disease but the BLOATING I experience is awful.
It looks and feels like I'm 8 months pregnant after I eat.
You all are right, there is'nt anything that works well, why?
The only thing I have tried that helps a little is over the counter
medications like Gas X. Anything that contains Simethicone
will help with the bloating, but not always and definatly not
a cure or quick fix! I do notice that dairy products and pop
makes the bloating worse. There's OTC medications for
Lactose Intolerance also but they work about the same
as the Simethicone, not very well. I have asked so many
Doctors and tried many, many products and have found
like most of you, nothing. Drinking water helps some.
The only thing that really works is not eating.
Not a good idea. Hopefully someone will find help for us!
Hang in there!

Hi Nikki @ Kellir

I went to the doctor today and he said in my case I cannot do much about the bloating. He did suggest exercise for me because most of my problem with bloating is due to side effects from prednisone I was on because of breathing problems due to asthma. However, I cannot do to much exercise because of my current stomach and breathing problems due to asthma.

Sorry I do not have much to offer you.

Previous post mentioned about lactose. I know for a fact my stomach swells up and gets bloated if I drink regular milk or eat sour cream etc. (dip always gets me). I avoid the lactose and I eat whole grain bread and take fiber tables. It works most of the time (Till I eat vegatable dip with pretzels - full of sour cream) day later stomach balloons.
