I was just wondering if anyone has ever experienced tinnitus as a result of anxiety or panic disorder. I sometimes hear a ringing in my ear and am wondering if it's related to anxiety. It's pretty annoying, but it doesn't cause me any other problems.

i have it also.. had it for years, i don't know if it is from my anxiety or not.. its not to bad most of the time if i have other noises going on around me i don't hear it.. but if its really quiet all i can hear is that annoying ring.. went to a ENT Dr just to make sure nothing was wrong and everything checked out just fine. he told me in some people it just happens for no reason at all... as in nothing triggered it.. (loud noises, inner ear problem , etc.)

I have it in my right ear. I just noticed it about a month ago, after I started taking a higher dose of Buspar. Tinnitus is listed as a possible side effect from Buspar and you would be surprised at how many antidepressants list this as a possible side effect. I only hear it when I go to bed and when I wake up otherwise the white noise during the day over-rides it. I don't like it one bit, but for the time being I need to take the Buspar. The benzos for axiety are not listed under the drugs that cause Tinnitus, but I'm not willing to switch yet. Even over the counter drugs can sometimes cause Tinnitus. I don't think my anxiety caused my Tinnitus, but the ringing in my ear is certainly making my anxiety worse!

I've had tinnitus for many years and lately it seems louder. I wonder if the Wellbutrin or Cymbalta have made it louder?

Do you take meds? I had bad tinnitus on Effexor. Luckily, it improved a lot once I got off meds.

Do you have high blood pressure? My dad has ringing in his ears and his Dr. said it happens to people with high blood pressure.

I am not on any meds as of yet. So I know my tinnitus that I get at times, is not from a med. I do get high blood pressure during my anxiety attacks and with anxiety in general, but never diagnosed with actual high blood pressure. But maybe the high blood pressure I get with anxiety causes the tinnitus. Hmmm... I'll ask my doc.
