View Full Version : First Period after stopping breastfeeding?

My little guy is 3 months (as of yesterday). I tried breastfeeding with him but it never worked - major supply issue and medically diagnosed that way too. At 5 weeks PP I entered into a study to study the safety and effectiveness of a medication to help breastfeeding (prolactin for prolactin deficient mothers). During that study, I took prolactin injections for over 3 weeks and then I pumped 1 week after. I've been off of the prolactin medicine for 5 weeks and I haven't done any breast stimulation in 4 weeks. I still have yet to get my period since the birth of my baby 3 months ago. I suspect that the breastfeeding attempts (as well as the prolactin injections) have delayed it.

So, I was wondering for those who breastfed/breastfeed - when did you get your period back? Was it while you were breastfeeding? If it was after you stopped, how long did it take to get it back after you stopped breastfeeding?

Thanks in advance for your answers.
