In his book about the Blood Type Diet Dr D'Adamo claims that OCD seems to occur more often in people who are blood type A.
I've had OCD and I am blood type A. I'd be interested to hear from anyone else with OCD who is blood type A. i'd also be interested to hear from people with OCD who AREN'T blood type A - just to see whether it's true or not.
Obviously no one is under any pressure to respond. This is not a survey and I'm not using the answers for anything apart from my own curiosity.

I would be courious as to what is the percentage the population has this same blood type? What was the pool of people tested? As well as the geological location? And who sponsored this study? As well as what is the study of these same kind of people in 3rd world countries?

Dan apparently the most common blood type is O. 44.42% of the population are O, 34.83% are A, 13.61% are B and 7.14% are AB. These are D'Adamo's findings, anyway. So all you ABs out there, you are the rarest of them all. :)

Ha! That's just plain awesome! I'm "A-"! I'm not surprised that my blood type may be related to my OCD. I've also heard that Asperger's is more common in those who have a negative Rh factor, and that also hits the nail on the head. Both of my parents are "A+", so I only had a 25% chance of getting the recessive gene. I find it interesting that I got the recessive gene and that both of my disorders have been linked to my blood type. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong with my development...

I have OCD, ADD, and Compulsive Skin Picking(a newly discovered class of OCD). I am A+! I am trying to find resources and study centers that may be able to help me bacause I wonder, if there is a common trait, such as blood type, then there might be a treatment that works!

According to D'Adamo people with type A blood have higher levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) in their blood. He says OCD is a result of high cortisol levels and suggests a variety of things to help; like tyrosine and high doses of vitamin C among other things. At the moment i'm reading about amino acids and their affect on mood and anxiety. Have taken 5 HTP that seems to make me a bit sleepy.

I have decided that I have AB! There is an AB isn't there?
Trixibel
03-10-2007, 11:28 PM
you've decided????
yes there is an AB. if one of your parents are A and one of your parents are B then you could be AB. Also if both your parents are AB. AB is the rarest blood type.
