Hi everyone,

I got the results of my progestrone blood test done and it was low! 8.9 was what the nurse said but she also said that it means that I had a good ovulation this month... how can that be when online I read that you need a 10 or higher and that many women get high double digit numbers. I am so worried and so anxious now.... ...........

Is there ANY way I can be pregnant with those numbers? (keep in mind I am on 50mg clomid and always ovulated on my own)...

Any input is appreciated!

-Dana.

Hi Dana - I wish I knew more about progesterone levels (and I've begun to question why my doc has never checked mine). I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that you are worried and I hope that it all works out for you this cycle. It does sound like your 8.9 is very close to the minimum of 10 that you say you've ready about. I hope that small 1.1 difference is not that critical. I will be thinking of you and waiting to hear what you find out. Good luck, hun.

Hi Dana,
I am sorry that you are so stressed now about the progesterone level. My RE told me that it has to be at least 10 to show that you ovulated and that they would like it to be closer to 13. I always have my level drawn and it has been anywhere from 11 to 29 from month to month. When my level would come back low (11 or 13) my RE put me on progesterone supplements-prometrium pills. I wish you all the best with your cycle and hope that you will get a BFP! Please keep us posted.

Hi Dana,

I so sorry your worried. Sometimes the more we learn about stuff the more we put on ourselves to worry about. I for one do all the time.:rolleyes. Yes it is true that a higher number can me an indication of pregnancy but.....that does not mean that if it is high that you are pregnant and that if it is low that your not. What CD is this for you??? Is beta next week for you??? Did she put you on progesterone pills??? The thing is that every person is different and ok maybe your chances of pregnancy this month feel as if they may be less but this test will not confirm pregnancy for you so there is really no definite answer yet. I know the waiting is tough. If you have concerns call RE and ask again why they feel it is normal as you heard it should be above 10 and if they have not put you on progesterone ask why about that too. Hang in there Dana, I would still keep hoping this month. Miracles happen all the time and I hope you have your own miracle this cycle!!! GOOD LUCK!! Keep us posted.

Hi Dana. I just wanted to chime in here to make you feel better. I know that the level may appear to be low but my RE said that any level above 3 actually shows satisfactory ovulatory production. You have to remember that the timing of the prog. level test is the most important. Keep your head up.:)

Hi Ladies, sorry I didnt respond until now ... I just got in the office and last night DH did not allow me to go online ;) (he says I research too much and drive myself nuts)....

Kari, thanks so much for your words of encouragement - you are so sweet!

Mapia, I am going through my first IUI Cycle with 50 mg clomid. I have been TTC#1 for 20 months and have been told i have unexplained IF. I always ovulated on my own (i think) so I thought the number would be higher with the clomid. Thank you for your well wishes and I hope for you too to get your BFP next month, so sorry about your chemical pg....

Cmarie - that's what I've been reading online, at least 10 ... but my doctor says at least 3 so I am confused. I will ask my Dr about taking pills and if that will help.

Deluka - I tested on CD 21 but I think I ovulated on CD15 - my OPK changed colors on CD14 in the am .... I am not going to an RE, this is my regular OB-GYN ... she said we will do 3 IUI cycles before she refers me to a specialist. I will be taking a HPT anywhere from sunday - tuesday (14DPO) depending on how long I can wait it out. I really do hope for a miracle, everyone around me is spontaneously pregnant and they all know that I've been trying and its so hard to deal with. I know all you ladies know the feeling - so i dont have to tell you.

Anna Leigh - thank you so much for the chime, it truly did make me feel better, especially the fact that your RE gave the same info as my OB-GYN... 3 minimum... that makes me slightly more hopeful!!

Thanks again Ladies, you are all so sweet and supportive!!!! UPDATE: as I was writing this my Dr called me back and said that they look for numbers over 5 to signal a good ovulation and that she is very hopeful for this month. She said: "all your tests came out ok, I dont know why it hasnt happened yet" :( me NEITHER!!!!!!!!! (sorry, venting).... Well I guess she eased my mind a little and so did you gals ... so I am going to take a breather and try to relax.....

((HUGS))

I really have to just get in here and totally agree with Kathy about the more we learn the more we sometimes worry.... so true!!!! I start to question everything with the more I learn! :dizzy: But Dana, I'm just like you - I research like crazy on line trying to understand just about anything that's relevant to my infertility. And I've learned so much from this site too. My DH totally says I over-educate myself and he wishes I would just chill!

Hi try not to think too much about the numbers as I got pg with my son and my numbers were lower than what i am getting now. I think as long as its in the range, thats what i am looking for. May I ask something - you said you ovulate on your own, I was wondering why you take clomid? I also O on my own but am thinking that maybe I should ask for clomid to see if that does anything? Best wishes and good luck to you.

Marielle,

I am taking clomid because thats what the OB-GYN suggested. I guess to increase the chances that I have a good ovulation. That's partly why I was worried because with clomid I would think that I should have ahigher number. Do you know what your numbers were with DS?? Also, are you going to an RE or trying on your own?

-Dana.
