good morning my:dizzy: friend. glad to hear from you. it sounds like alot is going on and changing everyday. good luck with the mental health dr. The epidurals and Pt worked wonders for my back with my first injury. took 18 months and alot of work but the herniations healed. you have more severe problems in the lumbar area than i do. The neck crap bugs me. PT has been helping my neck pain but the headaches still come and go almost everyday. I'm still praying.

Dear Grasshopper,
Thank you for the thread.
As the days go by, I am holding on.
I took the prescribed sleeping aide and my patterns seem to be more eposodic than usual. I will sleep, then wake up but feel tired enough to go back to sleep.
I am both sick and tired of replaying this accident in my mind.
The orthopaedic surgeon does not want to cause me any additional pain. He wants to see if he can lessen the leg and back weakness and pain with epidurals.
Cervically, he wants me to go for another series of nerve testing (upper extremities).
The medications help but the weakness still persists in my neck, shoulders, arms, wrists and some fingers.
I cannot stand still for more than five minutes on my legs but I am still compelled to seek justice:blob_fire .
I am told that this is one of the symptoms of PTSD.
I'll see what the psychiatrist says today. She thought it was a good idea that I post on this board when I brought it up a couple of weeks ago.
Keep hopping.
Take care

Dear Sannah,
Thanks a lot for the post. I will definitely be posting on your thread tomorrow. I am just beginning to get my visual bearings back; if only I could solve the concentration problems.
Dear Sid,
I'm getting there (wherever there is). Almost ready for your "bat posting." Ah! That's it; you are "Batwoman.":D
Dear Sis,
I'm doing the "survival" thing. No matter what I am going through, physically or mentally(including emotions) I have to focus on that light at the end of that tunnel, or I am truly doomed. You will be just fine.
Take care

FTM))))))) the feelings that you speak of are what brought me here and kept me here. TIRED OF IT ALL! JUSTICE!!!!! RELIEF FROM PAIN PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL! I am glad the dr. is working on ridding you of some of the pain. I thought you had an EMG of upper extremeties. Though I have a messed up neck with pain and numbness straight down both shoulder, arms and hands (my left being worse) my EMG came back normal with a possible of a C7 pinched nerve. No surgery recommended. PT is helping to sooth the muscle pain. that seems to be really bad. We tend to scrunch our shoulder up with neck pain and then the muscles are all inflammed. PAIN! I never believed that was the cause of alot of my cervical pain and headaches but after getting stimulation, heat and a massage 3 xs a week it is helping to relax the muscles hence less pain. As far as sleeping goes, you need to. Some meds will help but have the effect you're having. sleep , wake, sleep, wake. As long as you can go back to sleep it's helping. As always be safe and keep us informed.

Grasshpopper

Dear Grasshopper,
This morning brings with it the optimism of the psychiatrist hopefully shedding some light on my complex situation. The epidurals didn't work prior to surgery and I hope that they will now. For some reason, my body rejects the steroids.
PT has been helping me; helping me to realize where my weaknesses lie. I tell them that I cannot do certain things and it is almost as if they don't believe me.
I don't want any more headaches and the massaging and electrical stimulation does not help.
How do you cope with the headaches? (just curious)
Take care

The last EMG was for the lower extremeties and since the the neureologist that performed my last upper EMG was way off with the lower, he is ordering another one.
The neurosurgeon said that he believes in his neurologist but yet another one of his colleagues felt differently (hmmmm).
Never knew about the "sleep, wake" scenario. I was not up for the researching at the time (pardon the pun) Thanks.
I will definitely keep all informed.

FTM----in my case (lumbar) it took six injections in different areas, alot of PT, and alot of time. Not to say you will have the same benefit just my experience. I am at my 4th PT facility and this one is the only one when I say I can't do something they stop immediately. The heat and stim relax my trap muscles which are hard as rocks and limit my ROM. the massages hurt like all get out but afterwards I feel better for maybe 2 days. doesn't hold any longer than that. As far as the headaches go sometimes I wake up with it and sometimes they come on during the process of the day. Usually they will respond to Tylenol arthritis or tylenol 8 hour. there are times when I have to take a narcotic to ease it up. I use some heat on my neck and strecth it. that usualyy relieves them for me. might have to repeat it off and on during the day depending on how bad they are. they also affect my vision at times. hence my fear of driving. One more thing is the sleep position. since I also have a bad shoulder it's very difficult to find a position that doesn't hurt something. I wake several times during the night with dead hands and have to readjust my position. I have found that a round bolster pillow under my neck to balance it and keep it level with my head has been the biggest help. Test results are not always accurate and neither are dr.s. I have had 2 dr.s tell me I have carpal tunnel but EMG says different. My spine specialist believes all of the numbness and pain in my shoulder and hands, all the weakness is coming from my cervical spine. Wishing you the best always.
Peace,
Grasshopper
