my daughter has suddenly become really tired. she is 5, she goes to bed during the day and early at night, she has never done any of these things before, as a normal 5 year old i have to usually force her into bed!her eyes look really heavy, lost and sleepy all of the time but she seems well in other ways(no headache, temperature, sickness etc). she isnt eating very much either she has a bite of something every now and then. she begged me to take her to pizza hut yesterday,i didnt want to as she looked awful but she insisted that she was ok to go, she had a mouthful of pasta then fell to sleep at the table. on the way home she asked me to buy her a banana and she had a bite of it and said she didnt want anymore and got into bed as soon as we got home the same thing is happening today. i am getting her what she wants so at least she is having something. she is sleeping at the moment. i have called nhs direct and they said its just a virus. today im getting very worried, am i being silly as she has no other symptoms?when she isnt sleeping she wants to just lie down. i found her lying on my sons bedroom floor.

You are absolutely not being silly! If this is not normal behavior for her, then there is something wrong. Take her to the doctor and demand a full physical exam and blood tests. You may have to be VERY, VERY pushy with the doctors, but you have to be her advocate. Take a friend or family member with you for support if you need to. You are her mother- you know if there is something wrong, and it seems as though there is.

I agree that this does not sound normal at all! My son is six and I would be seriously distressed if he fell asleep suddenly while out to eat!!! Virus or not she should be seen and have blood work done.

I agree with the other posters.. take her to the dr.. I thinks its wrong of them to diagnose her on the phone like that without seing her.. follow your gut instinict and get her checked just in case.. let us know how u get on :)

I don't think you are being silly at all! I would be VERY concerned. She's more than tired....she's lethargic and that's something to be concerned about! Get her to the pediatrician mommy! I hope you get some answers.
