Hi everyone, I usually post on the TTC board, but today had a HSG test done and it showed my tubes are blocked. I am so upset over this and was wondering what steps some of you have taken with this same problem. And how can I ovulate if they are blocked????
Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy,

I am so sorry about your results. I do not have this issue but from what I have read on the board there are options for you. Did your RE mention surgery to repair the block?? I would think that would be their recommendation. Try not to worry to much there are plenty of women w/ blocked tubes that are still able to concieve you will see that from this board!!! Good luck and welcome to the board!

Hi Amy. I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know exactly how you feel. I'm sorry this will probably be long, but hopefully it will make you feel better. I had a tubal pg many years ago and lost my left tube. It's the only time I've ever been able to get pg. We went to the dr about a year ago, and I found out my right tube was completely blocked last summer. Just like you, I was devasted. We've been TTC for almost 4 years, and all this time my tube was blocked :( . My RE said we could get pg by doing IVF, but this isn't something we can afford and my insurance doesn't cover it. Besides, I wanted my tube to work! So, he did a laparoscopy...it's a very minor surgery. I have had 3 in my life and never spent a night in the hospital. Anyway, the great news is he was able to unblock my tube. So all this rambling to show you there is hope  :D and you do have options.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot your question about O'ing. My b/w and OPK's show that I do ovulate. I don't think your tubes have anything to do with O'ing actually. I think that's all the work of the ovaries. Anybody know for sure?

Again, I'm really sorry about the results of your HSG. I wish you SO much luck and I hope you feel better real soon. You will find lots of support here. We are like a big family :)

Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better now. I talked to the dr's office to see if we should continue with the other tests they want to do and they said yes, this way we can see if the tube things is the only thing going on. We can not afford to do IVF so hopefully we can figure out something. You girls are all so sweet, and thanks again. here's to big bellys in 2007!
