My daughter is 10 months and she only has her two bottom teeth. I try to brush, but of course it is always an issue with a baby. I was looking at her teeth today and they looked somewhat black in between her two teeth, or in the tiny grooves of her teeth. I don't think they are rotton by any means but I am really concerned and taking her to the dentist tomorrow. Has this happened to any of you? How do you brush your child's teeth sucsessfully.
I also feed her at night which I think she drinks out of habit and I probably do it now out of convience.....I think I should really try to console her first before just giving her a bottle when she wakes. I feel awful right now because her teeth seem dirty......

Actually what it is, is that her teeth are small and somewhat transparent and when she pushes her tongue there, it appears darker, lol! opps!

If she won't let you brush her teeth try using a little toothpaste on the wash cloth. It is easier than doing it with a toothbrush if the baby is uncooperative. I would have the ped look at the tooth too the next time you take her. Some folks say a baby should be taken to the dentist by his or her first birthday, but my dentist, who does treat children claims that it is much better to wait until they are at least close to three years old because they are more cooperative and have a much more positive view of the dentist. We started taking all three of ours when they were around three or four and none of them has had a problem. All of them also either nursed or fed to sleep until they were between 1 1/2 and 2 years old. We did clean their teeth daily though from the time they were about six months old. And, our teenagers have never minded going to the dentist. Our seven year old daughter loves to go.
