Is anyone here familiar with the herb fenugreek? and is anyone taking the herb to increase their milk supply? Is it working out for you and how many mg. does it takes to be effective? I need to increase my milk supply.
thanks

With fenugreek, you will know you are taking enough when your sweat and pee start to smell like maple syrup. THis is about 9-12 capsules a day, I started with 3 capsules 3 times a day and by the second morning we were good. It sounds like a lot but it works.

It helped me as well, but I never fully caught up with what DS was eating. I also used Blessed Thistle a few times a day.
Like the above poster said, I took 9 of the fenugreek a day.

AAAAHAH! That's what that smell is! LOL
I've been taking 9 caps a day for about 2 weeks now. Along with blessed thistle and mother's milk tea.
Anyway, I noticed that I have a body odor now. It doesn't smell bad per say, but I can smell it. And yes, it does smell like maple syrup sort of.
None of this has really increased my supply all that much though.

Fenugreek never helped me much either, but I tell you what did help. DD has been sleeping in her own bed since 2 weeks. She got sick (with a virus) and was having trouble with vommiting so the doctor suggested smaller feedings more often. That combined with her being fussy and not wanting to sleep because she didn't feel good, made me bring her to bed with me for about a week so we could both get some sleep. Prior to this, I was having trouble with supply and fenugreek wasn't helping so i had stopped right before dd got sick. ANYWAY, since I was letting her nurse almost ALL THE TIME, all night long, it wasn't long before I was over-producing. Anyway, it really helped me.
