Hi Everyone.
I have not been on the board in the longest time but I am so desperate that I need your input.
My 17 month old dd has begun to have intense episodes of anxiety with the babysitter when they go out on playdates or when a playdate group or any other stranger enters her house. At these time times dd screams in terror and grips on to the babysitter. She will not let her put her down and even when holding her, she continues to wimper sometimes for over an hour until they are out of the situation.
The weird part is that she does not behave like this with me. My ped says it sounds like a normal form of separation anxiety. Since my babysitter has a dd the same age who does not behave like this, she is getting very frustrated and feels that it is potentially abnormal. Sadly, I can't suggest what she can do to help because dd does not react like this with me?
Has anyone experienced anything like this and if so, how did you and or your babysitter handle it? Thanks for your help!
