View Full Version : A cholesterol question please

My cholesterol was high, so my doctor prescribed Simvastatin which has worked wonders, and things now look OK.

I was talking to a friend who was on similar medication, and who was tucking into a massive bacon sandwich (It smelt very good!)

To my surprise, he said that once on the statins he could eat what he wanted without the problem returning.

This seems daft to me ... surely he is not correct.
I don't intend to gorge on similar feasts, but as he is a friend, I would like to advise him accordingly, if he is putting himself at risk.

Can anyone advise please?

The dose he is on now may work for him but if he don't watch his diet, they will have to up it.. Upping it, the higher the dose, the more problems he is going to end up having from side effects.

I did extreemly poorly with my numbers low and quit the drugs.. My numbers are now what my doctor calls "high" (253) but I think they are great and I am not going to worry about them being in the 200-300 range anymore. That is ME... My opinion for myself and my life now that I have it back.
