My uncle who is 82 was diagnosed with Melanoma of the Eye a few weeks ago and is having surgery today to have his eye removed. What is the prognosis of someone having this type of cancer? He's been in good health and never goes to the doctor. He had a cataract removed from this eye last May and never did see correctly with it. They ended up taking him in and doing it over again a few months later. Doc said the lense had a fold in it. Wouldn't have thought they would have seen something in his eye at that point that indicated the cancer? This man doesn't even take any medication! They found he had a slow heart beat and put in a pace maker last week. Any insight into this, would be greatly appreciated.

Your uncle has Ocular Melanoma. There is no way to know what kind of prognosis he has - that would be something that his oncologist would have to answer. It is not as uncommon as you might think. There is a lot of info out there on it. I hope that your uncle is doing well.
