Baylee,

I am so glad your sister is doing well and you had a nice visit. Don't you wish you could stay about a month?
My dad is doing ok he had to have an angioplasty about a month ago. He is 62 I wish he could retire but it will have to wait until he is 65. right now his work is slow so he has been able to work Monday- thursady and have a 3 day weekend. That is nice he needs the rest.

As for his bladder so far so good we are coming up on two years cancer free that seems like a great milestone to me.

I hope everyone else is doing well would love an update.

Baylee you are always in my thoughts and prayers also. Have a great Day.

I recently had a CT scan done for kidney stones and they noted an area that had some thickening of the bladder wall, I think about 5mm or so. I know I don't have cancer but I'm just wondering if this is something that can lead to cancer? Thanks,
Liz

Hi guys!

I guess I haven't been here for a long time. Luckily I searched for Baylee Bianca and found this thread.

My parents are in Florida now for the month of March. My dad was supposed to have his prostate biopsied in February because his PSA was higher than his urologist would like, but my dad said that would ruin his trip and he opted to have it done when he gets home in April. I don't think his doctor was too happy. Not much else going on, Hope all is well with everyone and I'll post back when he has the testing done. :) Take care all.

Lorabelle,
You will be in our thought and prayes until we find out how your dads test turn out. It must be hard on you to wait until April. Hopefully he will at least enjoy his time in florida and not worry the whole time.
It is good to hear from you sorry the news is worrisome. I hope and pray it all turns out ok.

Lori, Hope your dad is enjoying Florida and not worrying to much. Like Tina, you are in my thoughts and prayers and hope for nothing but good news on your dads test results.

Tina, How is all going your way? Hope all is well.

All good on my end. My sister is doing good and only needs to be seen once a year for a check up.

 Hi Lizzy, nice name same as my mum. Don't know if this is any help but i was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with thickening and calcium deposits in my gall bladder the medical term is porcelain gall bladder, very rare and usually only found when looking for gall stones, i go back on monday to see specialist but apparently it could be cancerous and my last test will show if it has spread and if so which organs are affected so doesn't look good for me. if i were you i would ask your doctor outright that's the easiest way to put your mind at rest.
take Care . Cas

How is your sister doing? Have you been able to see her recently? I hope she is healthy and happy.
I hope Lori gives us and update soon on her DAD I have been thinking about you two and just had to check and see how things were going.

Tina, So glad to hear that your dad and uncle are both doing well. My sister is doing good. Was planning another visit to Vegas when my husband surprised me on mothers day with a gift of a horse. :) Seeing as we live in the city and I have to board her it has been very time consuming. So I am aiming to get to Vegas in August or September. I hear ya Tina, will be glad when my kids are out for summer break too. Next year I will only have one left in high school. ;) Hope Lori, will check in soon with a update on dad.

Baylee,
My Dad had a cystoscope the other day and thought he would be finished with them. I guess he thought wrong his Dr said he had to contiue to have them every 6 months for 4 more years. He said the cancer will come back eventually and we want to catch it early. My dad isnt' happy about the check ups every 6 months but better to be safe than sorry.

How is your sister? Hope you are having a good summer.
Lori how is your dad doing?

Hi Tina, How advanced was your father's bladder cancer? When they first found mine in 2001, the tumor in my bladder had traveled up the left ureter and choked off my left kidney. The kidney was removed 3 months after the cystoscopy to remove the tumor in my bladder.

If your dad's tumor is contained to the bladder, his chances are good. If it metastized to his lungs or anywhere else things change. Once my tumor was found up the ureter, my surgeon told me I had a 6% chance to survive.

A short while after all that, it really spread bad and I went to Boston, MA and started chemo. I'll be cancer free for almost three years but my Oncologist keeps reminding me things could change any minute.

Good luck to all and please go to the best available Oncologist. You'll have a better chance there!

God bless!

Matt,
My dad is very lucky he 1st went to his primary physician when he had blood in his urine. His primary Dr was getting ready to retire he told my dad you probably have an infection and gave him some antibiotics. My dad didn't think it was and infection but he took the antibiotics. The blood in the urine did stop after a couple of weeks. Then aboout three months later he started having blood in his urine again. He went to his new primary care physican who luckily sent him for a cystoscope. His cancer was contained to his bladder. He had it removed and chemo was placed in his bladder after surgery. We are very lucky that it was contained in the bladder, I guess the incidence is rather high for this type of cancer to come back so that is why they want him to keep being checked.
My Uncle hasn't been so lucky his bladder cancer was advanced, I am not sure how much but I know he had to have radiation and two rounds of chemo. He like you is now cancer free for about a year now.

I am sorry for you that your cancer was so advanced. Just remember you are stong you have made it through surgery and Chemo with such great results. Keep your positive attitude and we are always here if you need support. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Tina & Lori & All,

I feel so guilty it has been so long since I have checked in. Actualy will be leaving for Vegas in 6 days for a visit with my sister. It got me thinking about you both and hoping all was ok with both Tina's dad & uncle and Lori's dad. My sisters cough is once again back. Guess, I should be better use to it by now but, it always continues to worry me when it returns. Hope to see and update from you both soon as you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

love, Baylee

Hi All, I'm looking for some answers, hope someone can help me here. My husband had bladder cancer two and half years ago, he had a reconstructed neobladder, he's been doing fine, three months ago he had a CTscan the resultscame back. "There is a small, less than 1cm, adenopathy along the right iliac chain". I'm getting the run around with the doctors, just wait and see, after some persistence the doctors said to have another scan in four months time, which is at the end of Sep. I want some honest answers, I'm not afraid of the truth, I don't want to waist time waiting, when I can move on,weather it be good or bad. Don't worry about telling me the truth I like straight shooters.

Hi. Just checking back in after a long absence. Glad to see so many people are doing well.

MWWJGC: I've had three bladder tumors removed, bcg treatments and a cysto every three months for the past few years. I'm not a doctor, just a very annoying patient and have discovered the following.

During an examination, your doctor may "knead" the body. He is looking for swollen lymph glands, which are referred to as: adenopathy. One of the areas he feels is the lower abdomen, right above the hip; this is the iliac channel.

Adenopathy can be caused by many things and doctors use a process called "differential diagnosis" to try to narrow down the underlying reason. This just means they try to eliminate each possible cause till they find the one responsible. I'm just assuming that if the enlargement is so small it only shows up on a CT scan, the doctors are not yet that concerned. Also remember, studies have shown different radiologists will give different findings looking at the same scan; I was given three different opinions on the same CT scan.

However, I believe our goal as patients and loved ones is to not let doctors get away with just "blowing us off" but keep questioning them in ways that force them out of their established, preconceived mindset. If you're not happy with the answers so far, request an office meeting with the doctor and ask such questions as: What do you suspect? What's the worst it could be? etc.

FWIW, I believe you're doing the right thing in seeking answers. But then again, I'm the annoying patient. Good luck!

mwwjgc,

I think the not knowing and the waiting is so hard. My dad was lucky he was able to have his cancer removed and then Chemo inserted into his bladder. His wasn't into the muscle so he didn't need any other surgery. I agree with Keyzersoce I think it may have been too small to tell exactly what it was. Hopefully you will get some answers with this CT scan. You might want to write your questions down to take to the Dr. Sometimes you get so focused on what they are telling you that you forget about some of the other question you wanted to ask. Good luck and i hope you get a good report let us know how it turns out.

Baylee,

How was your visit with your sister? How did she look? Is she keeping her check up appointments or did you have to get onto her about that?

Hope you had a good time visiting her and had a good break from all the everyday crazziness of life.

Hi all, We have just received my husband's CT scan report & it's not good. His node is now 14mm in size, it's not looking good, considering the high grade cancer he had. We now go on Tuesday next to see his urologist for a biopsy & maybe a Pet scan? It's a bit hard as it's his 60th birthday in November & our 40th wedding anniversary in December. Well a least we know what road were on now. Thank's to all. Mary

Hi Tina & All,

Hope all is well your way. My trip to Vegas was wonderful and my sister looked great. Not sure when her next check up is as her doctor is only wanting to see her once a year for a check up  Seem's to long to me but, she is set on keeping him as her doctor.

Will be looking for updates and as always keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Bayley and all,

I wanted to give you an update on my dad. He has a scope every 6 months to make sure everything is still ok. Last Wednesday they found a tumor he had surgery on Thursday and it went well. The tumor was small he will now be checked in 3 months. It was going to be three years in Febuary since his last bladder cancer.

Mwwjgc, How is your husband doing?

Hi Guys!

As per usual I've fallen off the face of Earth once again! :D My dad is doing well. He never did the biopsy of his prostate. After he got back from Florida, his PSA test had gone down, so the doctor let him slip by without having the test. I think it was September when he had his bladder checked again and everything looked good. I would imagine the doctor would like to do another BCG treatment, but my parents haven't told me about it.

Tina,

Sorry to hear that your dad had a recurrence. I'm glad to see that they caught it early. I'm worried that my dad will have a recurrence, that would freak all of us out so much. I think since it's been three years for him that we've all put the whole thing behind us now.

Baylee,

I'm glad to hear that your sister is doing well and that is so awesome about the horse. What's his or her name?

Have a good Christmas everyone!

Hi, Everyone,

Lori it is good to hear from you. I am so happy about your Dads PSA coming down and that he seems to be doing well. That is great News. I know we were all worried about his prostate. My dad is doing well he is planning on retirement in March around his 64th birthday. He works in a Factory and it is just getting too hard on his body to do such physical labor.

Baylee, hope all is well with your sister. I figure no news is good news. Waiting for an update from you.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and that the New Year is a healthy happy one.
