TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 11:04 AM Do light periods have anything to do with endometriosis?
I've been wondering about this for a while now because my dr cleared away some endo when I had my first lap done over the summer. I usually have light periods...4 or 5 days in length, starting out really light, getting heavier (never really THAT heavy though) and then ending really light as well. This month, I'm on CD 4, and AF already has her bags packed, ready to leave me alone for awhile. I guess I'm just concerned that if I'm not bleeding a lot, then maybe I'm not shedding all my lining and endo could be building back up...
Does anybody have any info on this? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! I look forward to reading them...
Holly
deluka96 02-15-2007, 11:15 AM Hi Holly,
I wish I knew, I had it in my mind if you had very painful periods and lot's of flow that was more of an indication of endo. But I'm not sure..they must be some-one on the board who can tell us. Mine are always light since being on BCP some years back and since then my periods are light-day2 heavier but only 3 days. RE does not suspect endo for me...Good luck!!!
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 01:10 PM Thanks for the reply Kathy! Now that you mention it, I do remember painful periods being an indication of possible endo. I just wish I could remember whether the amount of flow is an indication or not. I'll have to make a note of it to ask my dr the next time I'm in the office. I'm a little worried that it will come back before we get pg and then we will have more issues...
Take care!! Tomorrow is getting closer :D

deluka96 02-15-2007, 01:44 PM Hi Holly,
I did a little research on line and some of the symptoms are:
Severe AF cramps
heavy or irregular bleeding
Pelvic or back pain two days before AF
Premenstrual spotting
Rectal pain during bowel movement
Pain during intercourse
Bleeding after intercourse
That is what I found nothing about light bleeding so unless you have some of the above sx's I think your ok :)
Yeah it's getting closer!!! AHHH I hate the day before. I just want to know and get it over w/!! :)
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 01:51 PM You are so sweet to do research for me! Thank you!! That makes me feel a lot better :) . I know what you mean about just wanting to know already. I'm only on CD4, at least a week before the IUI will even be scheduled, and I already want to know how this cycle is going to turn out ;) :p . God must be putting me through this to teach me patience, because that is something I have always been short on, and it is something mothers need a lot of! Okay, well I learned my lesson, can I get pg now? :D
Everything is crossed over here for a BIG BFP for you tomorrow!!!
Holly
deluka96 02-15-2007, 02:05 PM Holly your so funny!!!! You have me cracking up over here :D . I couldn't have put it better myself. I have these same conversations with god all the time. Yes!! I learned ok. Can I have a baby now!!! I even try to make deals, like let me have just one on my own and I promise I will adopt. Well I will either way but I just throw it out there in case he's listening :p I throw a couple of prayers to the saints too but I guess everyone is very busy lately  What do I have to do send a formal request in writing! Sacrafice something... like fasting maybe??? I even wait for signs like ok if a deer crosses my path on the road this week then I will be pregnant this cycle!! (It can happen but it's not that often) Yeah I'm completely loosing it :dizzy: HA HA!! At least we still have our humor now that no shred of dignity is left. ;)
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 02:16 PM You're cracking me up too! I'm so glad we can laugh about it. Mapia must be hard at work, cuz she is always full of jokes too. We are such slackers! :p
I have tried to make deals with God sooo many times. I guess we just have to wait until it is our time. I am just praying BIG TIME that your time is right now and tomorrow is going to be the best day ever for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mapia74 02-15-2007, 02:31 PM Oh u guys want jokes huh.Lets see I have a slight headache so not sure I have many jokes today.Well when I went in for last Beta I took a different entrance into RE building.Thinking that changing the door I normally go in through will help.I think we are all becoming super sticious (sp).
We need some jokes here at work today cause I am the one PMSing but they have the symptoms.Everyone as at eachothers throats today.Good gob thank god I have my own little office and just stay away. But boss told me he is sorry he is in a bad mood just annoyed with everyone else here.I said damn I should be the one bi*****g not u all.I have AF and a headache but u still see I am in a good mood come here and u all ruin it.Sometimes men can be worst then women.
deluka96 02-15-2007, 02:57 PM There's the hard worker!!! Well as you can see Holly and I seem to have a lot of down time  Well Mapia you being greek and me being latin and both catholic (not sure if you are too Holly) we are the most supersticious (sp?) people out there. My MIL even spoke to some hocus pocus women in Argentina who said some-one gave DH and I the "evil eye" and that is why we are not pregnant yet. FREAKY  but I did contemplate who it might be for a bit.... Well if I had to do a fertility dance on national TV in they nude to get pregnant I would!!!LOL!!! :D
Mapia74 02-15-2007, 03:16 PM Kathy ok that is crazy.First it was the St.Anne madallion now the evil eye.We believe in that as well.DH and I have been to priest to read us a prayer.I am not Catholic I am Greek Orthodox.Almost the same beliefs though. That is to funny about the evil eye I am sitting here saying ok someone out there that understands my beliefs. Now the girls probably think we are nuts or some kind of witches talking about the evil eye.We even believe when we have a headache someone gave us the evil eye and someone who knows the prayer for evil eye has to say it for u so u can feel better. My MIL knows the prayer and we are always calling her in greece telling her to read the prayer for us.
To funny Kathy I swear. So u are from Argentina?Or ur background.
I feel u on doing whatever it takes to get pregnant I will do.So seeing us naked on tv big deal enough doctors and nurses have seen us whats a few million more people as long as we get our miracles.I would run around the streets naked in this freezing cold weather. So if u see a special report tonight just know it might be me........hahahaha.
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 03:17 PM Mapia, I am so glad you got to schedule your appt for Sunday! That's one less thing to have to worry about.
Kathy, I'm Protestant, but I still give in to some superstitions every once in a while ;) . Especially when it comes to TTC'ing. You are cracking me up over here - doing a fertility dance on national tv & in the nude...now that is determined! And I thought I was bad :p
Holly
Mapia, I think we posted at the same time - I will be watching the news tonight for you ;) . Let me know if you need bail money.
Mapia74 02-15-2007, 03:24 PM Hahahaha I might need bail money cause if I get locked up running around naked DH will not bail me out.So I appreciate u helping me if I need it....lol.
ravaemarie 02-15-2007, 03:32 PM Holly - I'm busting in on your post here - but I thought I'd let you know that since I had surgery and they removed endo - my periods have been heavy at first, then on day 4 it seems to be gone, but comes back again day 5, 6 and still some spotting on 7 and 8. So - I guess what I'm saying is just be careful - she may not be completely gone. It seems to me that as soon as I stop using "protection" from her - she comes back. She's such a beaver!!! I hope that is not the case for you - some people just have light and short periods - maybe you are one of those "lucky" ones...
=) Take care....
~Ravae
deluka96 02-15-2007, 03:35 PM You guys have me laughing out loud here at work...people must wonder what they heck is she laughing about.
Mapia-Oh yeah ofcourse your othodox greek...yes very similiar to us. You too Holly just not as wacky in all these beliefs I'm sure LOL!!! Mapia I can't believe you know about the evil eye. I am not from Argentina, DH is.... my parents are from the Dominican Republic ahh the carribean my parents are there right now lucky stiffers!!!! Anyway we also have this little round black gem stone with a little red dot stone at the bottom that a lot of latin people (especially the carribean) give to their children and attach to a cross or a bracelet that they would wear and that is to keep the evil eye away!! When I was I kid me and my a zillion cousins all had one LOL!!! I know everyone must think we are nuts!!!! LOL!!! But all this crap is true!! and i do believe it can't hurt to protect yourself right?? It's not like witch craft LOL I sware ladies just old country beliefs that's all!!! Just keeping those bad people away!!! hey can you have your MIL say that prayer for DH and I. i will try anything!!!!!
Holly- you KILL ME about the bail money!!!! I will pitch in too Mapia!! That's if I don't get hauled off to jail with you!! But to get a BFP I will do it I will get on what's that show called ....were they eat lamb eyes and ostrich eggs??? Fear factor??? I woud to that if I had to too!!!!
thanks for the good laugh you guys I really needed it!!
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 03:36 PM Thanks Ravae :) I appreciate any input! I have had light periods for a while now, but something just got me to thinking this morning...And you are right, AF is very sly sometimes...One of these days we are going to be able to send her packing for several months ;)
Okay Mapia, I read your other post about buying the store out of HPTs and peeing on all of them...I hope you were going to take them home first...I mean, you're not really trying to get arrested that much, are you? (lol) Seriously, thank you for helping me find the humor in all this. You're great
Holly
Kathy, this time we posted at the same time...Are any of us working? :jester: Don't worry, I don't think you guys are crazy one bit. Everybody has their beliefs, and that's what makes the world go round. And Kathy, I will come bail you out too...I need you guys to keep me laughing!
Mapia74 02-15-2007, 03:40 PM Right there in the store show the whole world its a BFP.........
deluka96 02-15-2007, 03:44 PM Thanks Holly!! Mapia- you crack me up!!! Boy am I a slacker I better do a little work at least to "pretend" I accomplished something today :)
Mapia74 02-15-2007, 03:49 PM Yeah u better cause if u get fired u cant send me bail money. So dont lose ur job plus we wont be able to buy those HPTs.

toscaspup 02-15-2007, 03:56 PM Hey, guys. Sorry for busting in on the post, but wanted to share my info on endo. I was diagnosed with endo back in 2004 when they found "abnormal cell growth" at the end of my tubes during an HSG. They did a Lap and found that it was endo, in stage 3. They removed all the endo that they could.
My periods have always been very painful (I didn't know that others didn't have that problem!). They have never lasted more than a few days and are not particularly heavy. I didn't notice a difference in AF after the surgery. For the first couple of cycles I did notice a difference in pain, but that has long since gone back to my normal (extreme pain).
I wouldn't think that the endo would make a big difference in flow.
****pedia states: "In endometriosis, the tissue which lines the uterus is found growing outside the uterus, within other areas of the body"
Symtoms that indicate the endo is there are related to the areas where the tissues are located. The reason there is more pain than normal when AF arrives is that the tissue all reacts the same and tries to shed (if it is not in the uterus, it can't get out of the body).
The Endometriosis Association has lots of publications (and videos) available if you want more info. I haven't purchased any from them, but some of the ones available look pretty good.
Hope this helps a little.
deluka96 02-15-2007, 03:59 PM Yeah u better cause if u get fired u cant send me bail money. So dont lose ur job plus we wont be able to buy those HPTs.
Mapia
HA HA!! Ain't that the truth!!
Tosca- It is nice to hear from you thanks for the info. I hope your getting ready to start a new cycle soon!!!
toscaspup 02-15-2007, 04:08 PM Thanks, Deluka. Last time it took 40 days for AF to show up....it has only been 10 so far this time. I think that I may have a while to wait. :(
I hope your AF doesn't show up this time. I am thinking of you and wishing you the best of luck! :D
deluka96 02-15-2007, 04:10 PM Thanks Tosca!! I really appreciate it!! I hope you can get started soon. It is the thing that keeps us going. So glad you are doing ok!! I hope next cycle is the one for you. I will be keep praying for you!!!
P.S. remember that each cycle and/or pregnancy is different so it may not take as long for you this time. Mine came right on time after m/c and we had very similiar cases so I hope that will be the case for you too!!!
toscaspup 02-15-2007, 04:19 PM Thanks, Deluka. This experience has been a lot different than the last one. Last time I was back at the emergency room 3 times after the D&C because of pain. I was off work a total of 5 weeks. This time things have gone fairly smoothly....I am to go back to work on Monday. (That will be a bit tough as I work at a daycare, but I guess I am up to it - physically if not emotionally!).
deluka96 02-15-2007, 04:44 PM Ah Tosca I feel for you both the physical and the emotional part. When I was pregnant the last time I too was working in a pre-school/day care. I got the job the week I find out I was pregnant!! DH and I just moved to another state and I wanted job where I can have the summers off since we had a baby on the way. But then after m/c I ended up quitting 2 months later. It was just too hard for me. I hope that you will be ok on both front physically and emotionally. Your a strong person and have made it through all of this so I know that you will be a great mom!!! Take good care and keep us posted on things!!
TryN2BMommy 02-15-2007, 06:59 PM Tosca, thank you so much for the great info on endo! And please don't ever feel like you are jumping in the middle of a thread. These threads are open to all of us...some of us just have a little more to say than others, or else a little more time on our hands because we are slackers. ;) But I definitely appreciate all the info from everybody. It is very helpful. I too hope that you can get started on your next cycle soon. Good to hear from you :)

deluka96 02-15-2007, 09:06 PM Hi Blue,
I never heard of that saint. Mapia and I pray to Saint Anne who also had trouble concieving. I don't know if you read that thread but the month I got the St Anne one I got pregnant!! Since I did miscarry I was bitter about praying for a while but know I am over it. It can't hurt to try him to. Thanks!!!
Army Wife 02-15-2007, 09:31 PM Talk about a rabbit trail of a thread! You guys are great!
As far as the endo scenario. I was (am) blessed with it. I also have really light periods, only lasting 3 days max, which I was grateful for in high school, as it didn't cramp my style. Now, however, I just wanna be like everyone else. My RE simply told me everyone is different, and some may have all symptoms, some none. Isn't that just the way this IF goes...sometimes you just want a straight answer, and this condition doesn't let us have that.
Now...the rabbit trail.. Just when I thought I had prayed to everyone I possibly could, ya'll give me some more. I will be trying them tonight. That just means I have to build a few more shrines... :) I have done everything from bartering with God to standing on my head after BD and praying (boy was that uncomfortable...and I looked ridiculous). Let me know if naked fertility dance works! I am not too proud for that either. Like ya'll said, we have already lost every shread of dignity and modesty we may have ever had...what could this hurt.
Sending all of ya'll tons of baby dust!! Lets make this our month!
Laurie
Mapia74 02-15-2007, 09:32 PM Blue it is never silly to pray.I dont know how religious u are so I can not tell u to pray.I pray all the time and I will never question god he knows his plans for all of us.I really believe u should never lose faith.I do understand sometimes it is hard not to lose faith trust me I know.Like when my cousin died in greece in a car accident at the age of 26. I really questioned him then and lost faith. One day a friend of my mothers asked me over for coffee to talk to me cause I was a wreck I was close with my cousin. She told me we can never question god and he needed angels so he took my cousin.Anyway since that day I dont question him now going through IF there were a few times I caught myself about to question him but I stopped myself and instead thanked him for my health and my families health.I do believe god gives us only what we can handle.I think he has made us into stronger women and that way will be great mothers some day.Ok I turned this into religious thread sorry. But one more thing we can not only turn to god when we want something we must honor his name everyday.
So Blue u pray all u want no one can judge u.But u really have to believe when u do otherwise it si worthless.I will pray for u and getting ur miracle.
