I was just curious if anybody else has had a funky reaction to the HCG "trigger" shot. I just had my 3rd on on Tuesday night (8 pm CST) (10,000) and by Wednesday, I felt like I had been in a bar room brawl - tired, achey, fever, headache, just plain miserable. This also happened to me the 1st time yet the 2nd was a breeze. Anybody else experience a reaction like this?
We had our 3rd and final IUI yesterday a.m. so I've officially started the 2ww again and hoping for a wonderful miracle in 14 days. Anybody else just starting the 2ww?

Hi Michelle,
Sorry I never had a reaction to HCG. I would call your RE and advise him of these symptoms. The box should tell you which symptoms should prompt you to call RE. I really hope 3rd time is a charm for you especially if this is your final IUI. What will you do next??? I wish I could joinn you at the 2ww but I just got bumped off with a BFN :( . Anyway lot's of luck to you!!!

Michelle,
I took Ovidrel for my first 2 IUI triggers but had to switch to the HCG on my last IUI. I didn't get that many reactions but my stomach where the needle went in hurt for 3 days. It looked fine but felt all bruised and sensitive to the touch. I couldn't even wear button pants for a few days because it hurt too much. I asked my RE about it and he said HCG is a cheaper version than Ovidrel so that might be why. I'm thinking about paying the $65 out of pocket to pay for Ovidrel myself this time so at least it doesn't hurt.

Hey Michelle, how'd you get to the 2ww so fast? I thought you were only a few days ahead of me. ;) Anyway, I just wanted to blow some sticky baby dust your way and wish you lots of luck!!! Will you have a BETA or wait to see if AF shows?

thanks Ladies !
I spoke with the nurses at RE's and they didn't think much of it - neither did RE ! Said it was unusaly but that some people react differently and maybe it was sorta an allergic like thing... whatever, as long as it works !! :) Oh, the things we put ourselves through....
Lori - I've only take the hcg intramuscular (in the hip) and it's large dose at one time. My injection site stays sore/bruised for a number of days too - I'm working in sweat pants ! Love the comfort.
Deluka - When I started this process, I knew I was on limited time. I waited a long time to find the man I wanted to have children with and that is the irony. I'm now looking at 43 in a few short months and I just don't want the added complications for a baby or me that age brings (health/birth defects). So, as much as I want to bring a child into this world and be a mother, I have had to accept the reality that it might not be part of the "big picture" planned for us. Fortunately, the stress of the IF process has not caused us any problems but I also don't think I could go through the emotional roller coaster of IUI or IVF again and again. Financially, when insurance doesn't cover anything, the cost becomes a horrible burden and with that, some guilt. So, IVF is out of the questions too. Maybe in a while we'll talk about adoption.... I don't know.
Holly - AF came like 4 days early for me (Sun instead of Thurs) !! So I jumped on this roller coaster that much sooner. Now the dreaded 2 week!! Well, I can tell you, I'll take all the morning sickness pg can throw at me if I came up with a BFP !!! You are close behind me, huh? When is your IUI scheduled??
Thank you all for your self-less, unending support - it means so much to have women who understand what your going through both physically and mentally.

Well Michelle, AF came 4 days early for you and 5 days late for me :dizzy: so my IUI is not even scheduled yet. I go in for day 11 u/s & b/w on Thursday, and hopefully they will schedule it then...
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!! I really hope this one does the trick! :blob_fire :blob_fire

Well Michelle than I am praying for you even more!!! It is so important to be with the right person. My MIL always says that the kids are important but they grow up and leave so it is important that you and DH have a good foundation to last many years after the kids leave the nest. So I am hppy to hear you say that. I am looking into adopting too. If I'm lucky I will get to experience motherhood both ways!!! Sending you lot's and lot's of prayers!!!! Saint Gerard please hear our prayers for Michelle!!!

Deluka - it's funny that you mention St. Gerard. My godmother (she's also my Aunt) loaned me a St. Gerard medallion on a chain that my Grandmother gave her when she was pregnant. She wore it for both of her pregnancies and then her daughter/my cousin wore it for both of hers - now....I have the priviledge of wearing it so he watches over me. Thank you for your kind words and understanding. So many can be harsh about our choices when they don't fight the challenges of IF.
Happy Mardi Gras to everyone !!! I don't know if any of you are familiar with the customs of South Louisiana but this is a big festival time for us which ends with much celebration on Tuesday (a/k/a Fat Tuesday) before the Lenten Season starts. (of course, considering I'm in the 2ww - there'll be no drinking this year for me !! LOL
