 Hi Guys,
Have any of you been put on this injectible. I will be taking 225 IUI of follistim next cycle and 225 IUI's of Menopur. From what I read on the web my RE is taking out the big guns now. Any information with regard to side effects, follicle response etc. would be helpful.
Thanks!!!

Kathy,
I was on menopur for my first and only cycle when I conceived my twins with a trigger shot and planned intercourse. I have a pituitary disfunction which makes it so I did not ovulate on my own (I took BC to induce periods) and not PCOS. I was put on a "short protocol" with menopur. My RE adjusted my dosage once over the cycle, and on the higher dosage, I think after 2 or 3 days, I got three very good, mature follicles (I don't rememebr the exact measurements). Despite the risk of a mutliple pregnancy we went on to the trigger shot and I conceived twins. I did experience ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome (not severe) and obviously, multiple birth is a risk, but other than some irritability, I did not experience any severe or extreme side effects.

Hi Kathy,
I will be doing 200 IU of Follistim for the first few days, then 150 IU of Follistim for the remaining days. I will also be on 75 IU of Menopur. This will be my very first cycle ever using any fertility drugs and I won't be starting them now until next cycle, which will be around March 11th or 12th. Good luck with it!! When exactly will you be starting?

Thanks!! Congrats on your twins!! Your giving me some hope!! I will try it with my 5th and final IUI before IVF. So I really hope it works and I don't have to spend the $$$$on IVF.

Kathy,
Wishing you lots of luck with this new protocol - I hope it works for you!!! Thanks for your congrats on my twins - they really are the very best blessing considering the issues I have with my pituitary (which led to issues with my ovaries, uterus, etc - long and complicated story). I was reluctant to even try IF treatment as my gyn and gp doc told me I would not likely be able to have children without a surrogate or adoption. So stay optimistic!

Kathy-
Last round (which will forever live in infamy) I was on 225 Gonal F am with 10 units of Lupron and then 225 Menopur pm. WOW...tons of fun!! My RE basically told me that the Menopur is a "purer form" of either FSH or LH (not sure which..all this alphabet soup messes with my brain...besides, I've slept since then). From what he said, it was better quality and had better results. I've got my stash for next round...
Wishing you the BEST of luck!!!

Unfortunately I won't be starting my injections until cd 2 of my next cycle. So that won't be until March 12th or 13th. It feels so far away. I AM doing in-vitro, but it will be my first one ever, so I am a bit nervous and excited. It should be very interesting. Keep us posted on your progress!!!

Hi Guys!!
Thanks for all the information and well wishes!!! I really appreciate it. I hope I will get really blessed and have twins like Michelle!!! But I will settel for one if that is all has to spare for me :). Wow Carisa your 1st IVF cycle I am very excited for you. I wish I was joining you I really am tired of IUI. I just don't think it's going to work for me. I try to keep in mind that babywish got BFP on 6th IUI but she's the only one I know who did. This will be my 5th and final. Hopefully by the time I get to IVF Caris -you will have BFP!!!
Good luck to all!!!!!! Please pary for me that AF will hurry up and come so I can get started again. I hate this part!!! WAITING!! UGH!!

Kathy- I know what you mean about not having any faith that your IUI will work. I didn't do as many as you, but I did do about three and with each one I just felt deep down inside that it was a waste of time. I do feel that my ivf will work, whether it be the first or the second or third, but I feel it will be worth my time and money. Hopefully:dizzy: Maybe this is your time though, I have heard of stories where women get pregnant on their fifth or sixth try of IUI. I hope you are one of those!!!
