I haven't had much opportunity to speak to others with OCD and wondered if anyone else had the same or a similar experience...
I never wanted my license, but back when I was 21, my ex-husband lost his license for D&D. I had no choice and went through Driver's Ed and eventually got my license. We lived in a small town so when we divorced and I moved back to the larger city I originally came from, I refused to drive there.
I spent 5 years petrified of driving. I would freeze behind the wheel(If I even got that far). People laughed at me, teased me, question why I wouldn't drive and I really had no rational understanding of it myself.
I am driving again now, but conquering the fear that caused such anxiety for so many years was my greatest achievement. I still have no clue what caused the fear/anxiety, but I'm thought I was crazy and so did a lot of other people when I registered for Driver's Ed again last year lol. I actually paid for it 2x in order to get over the fear. I'm fine now, bought a house in the country and drive everyday, in fact I love it. Go figure.
Every once in a while though, the anxiety returns. Meds have helped, but there's still the twinges once in a while...I'll have irrational thoughts that I might have hit someone or worry about impossible things happening, like someone I dropped off got their coat stuck in the door and I've been dragging them for miles etc...
Does anyone else have similar anxiety?

my gma used to freak out when someone would drive her somewhere. she got into a bad wreck a few years ago and broke her arm. she would get real anxious and afraid that whoever was driving was following too close to another car. her doc prescribed her Zoloft and that helped the anxiety but after a few years she got over it. she drives on her own again now.
