My child is around 18 months old and she has been very pale since she was a newborn. She was so pale that my parents and grandparents and family were worried that I wasn't taking her outside... but I was! She is 1/4 asian and I thought that was why she was so pale... I even had her pediatrition test her iron levels and she said it was normal and her level was 13 . So, I've started giving her baby Gerber multivitamins and she has much more color now since I've been giving them to her and she looks great... not nearly as pale. I have been breastfeeding her most of the time... and I was wondering if she maybe had a vitamin deficiency that caused the paleness? B/c she has much more color now than she did before and the vitamins has clearly helped.

I cant really offer any advice, but Im curious about baby paleness myself. My nurse keeps telling me my 8 week old son looks really pale and he is blue around the sides of his mouth and chin. And that his gums look really white/pale. I have aneamia and am breastfeeding, so maybe a vitamin def? Also, he has really low body temp (35 degrees C) but always feels really warm. Hows your babies temp? Dh and I are both very pale so I assumed its just his skin tone.

Anybody else have any experience with this prob?

I am still obviously curious as to why this happened to her... She was very pale until about 1 month ago when I bought Gerber baby vitamins. She also felt cool to me and was quite pale... despite purposefully taking her in the sun often. I have a heriditary low iron level... but it's not enough to be anemia. I still don't have any answers b/c the infant vitamin formula doesn't even contain iron. But yet, all of the paleness has improved so much! I am so happy that she looks better... and my family doesn't ask me anymore why she looks so pale and get those looks like it's my fault. But more importantly I think she's healthier. You should try giving her baby vitamins too!
