Hi I'm new to this. My name is Michelle. I got off the pill about 5 months in the middle of Oct, and have been trying to have a baby. Nothing yet. I have tried ovulation tests but they didnt work. I know I am ovulating but i'm still not pg. I dont know what else to do. How long does it usually take to become pg after getting off the pill. Thanks for reading, hope to hear from anybody:)

Hi Michelle,
I have been off of the pill since June, and while we haven't been trying to avoid pregnancy, we just started 'actively' trying to conceive. How are you so sure you are ovulating? I started temping last month, and although it makes me a little anxious, I feel that it gives me a 'picture' of what my cycle is doing throughout the month. It is also a good way to see if you are actually ovulating.
The window of oppurtunity is so small to conceive, that I actually find it quite amazing that so many people are able to get pregnant :dizzy:
I believe that I have read (on here) that the average couple can take up to a year of trying to actually conceive. Just remember that everyone is different, so don't get discouraged.
Everyone on here is really awesome and very helpful. Hang in there!

Thanks belle! Well you aksed how I knew I was ovulating, and I used thosed ovulation tests. It seemed everymonth I ovulated about the same week. They say you normally ovulate about 13 to 15 days before your peroid, and for me thats been pretty accurate!
I'm trying not to get to worked up about it, but I seem to get my hopes up and than here comes aunt flow!!!!!! I try not to show my fiance that I'm upset but its hard not to. I can say that I have a great guy that has been though alot with me. He sometimes gets more excited then I do!
Thanks for your input! Hope to hear from you again, hopefully on better terms.

Just a little friendly advice.... regarding the ovulation predictor kits, yes those are very helpful in detecting your LH surge, but they don't neccesarily mean that you ovulated. I highly reccomend trying bbt along with the kits, so then you'll know by your temp. shift whether you O'd or not. If you've been trying ttc for awhile without any luck, this would be a good next step to try. It happened to me many times where I showed a positive OPK, but with bbt at the same time I did not have the temp. shift that comes when your body releases the egg to become fertilized (Ovulation).
Good Luck!!

Thanks zuzu! I'll give that a try! I guess I can say I'm really new at the whole ttc. Maybe the ovulation tests seemed easier to me. I'll give it a try! I havent been using the ovulation test for a while since Ive had bad news everymonth I kind of gave up on them. I dont know but ever since my last period i have been feeling very weird. I always have an upset stomach and my breats hurt a little more. I figure that I may finally be getting back to normal. I'm NOT saying I'm PG. Just wondering if any of you have had these fellings before your body and cycle went back to normal? Thanks again!

Hi Michelle,
I'm new here too. I just stopped taking my birth control this month, and from what I've read it can take up to 6-9 months to get back to your normal cycle, and depending on what type of birth control, and how long you were on it, it could be even longer. You may want to check in with your dr. if you feel things aren't right. Check around on these boards, and the internet for other info. too.
