Going straight to braces will most likely no help at all because you need to achieve the correct bite first. The correct bite is when your joints are within the Gelb 4/7. If your teeth are aligned properly but they're so short at the back, is that the correct bite? No. The joints are mostly like too up in the fossa.

i dont care about my tmj i can live with the clicking or the splint because in the long run if i try to correct it like you guys said b4 there is no cure and all treatments are a risk i think IMO that these doctors are milking patients of thier money.

like you guys said b4 there is no cure

I never said this. And this statement is completely wrong. THERE IS A CURE.

I really didn't get your question. Are you asking if you should get braces or splint? But you don't want to see a tmj doctor?

I agree. Most tmj doctors out there (i'd say about 95% of them) are pretty much in it for the money. Guess what, if they mess up, you can't do anything about unless you really came prepared. Like audio tape your every visit, get copies of your initial treatment plan to see if he followed through on it, etc. And even if you have these, there is no standard in treating tmj at the moment. So you really need to find hard evidence.

IMO, going straight to ortho (i'm guessing straight wire) will not help you. And if you could live with it now, why not wait a while? There is a chance that the ortho will worsen your condition.

that is what I have, the short teeth in the back, and I told my dentist that I always close my mouth, and rest them together. she said that you should never rest your teeth together, your mouth should always be relaxed and not touching, I was like ok.. but thinking (I don’t want to do that I like the feeling when they fit together) so for the week I kept relaxing my jaw, and feeling this new feeling of them not touching. And I actually really really liked it! It was such a relaxing feeling. So I would let my mouth hang open and feel the …. Nothing… no muscles being used. I think about it while I do it, And now I’m better! Been better for 5 days, its amazing… so easy, for me. I will probably stop looking here if it doens't come back.

But one thing I do outta habit, is rest my chin on my hand when I’m reading, but that puts the muscles back in to work, and I no longer feel that relaxed feeling, so I have to keep stopping myself and pulling away. Sometimes my jaw shifts to the side when fully relaxed. Maybe my bite is a little shifted too, and I am always using my muscles to keep it straight, and I know its straight and aligned by my teeth closed together. and I learned to like that feeling, So maybe I keep using my muscles just to keep it straight. But like I said, don’t care anymore, just keep making sure I never touch my teeth together. I actually don't have an overbite anymore, I created it by making my teeth fit together. but I only overbite when I smile now. becasue I don't want to smile with my mouth open
