Has anyone had a test for erythropoietin?
Any word on why a kidney will produce too much of this hormone. It can cause too many Red Blood Cells, HBP & many problems in the body.
I am scheduled for the test next week.

I got my Erythropoietin blood test result.
My Erythropoietin was 38 in a range of 4 to 16. It can cause secondary polychthemia.
May be caused by tumor/cyst on kidney, liver, and/or brain.

Sorry, but most people with kidney problems don't produce enough and have to take it by injection. That is my case.

Thanks for the reply. My kidney or liver makes too much. It is usually a sign of cyst or tumor. I have had a adominal scan but the doctors are not responding to requests for info about it. I gues I have to find another doctor.
What is the best kind of doctor to deal with cysts/tumors, kidneys, & liver?

Has anyone had this test?
What was the result? What was the cause if not normal?
