Hi everyone !It all started 1.5 month ago when my son got cough and cold .he was given azithromycin for 5 days for that .He lost his appetite when he got cold .but he never regained his appetite later .After that he started having pale red colored patches in stools .he also had pain while passing stools .so we suspected he is having anul fissure .the patches of red colour do not look like frank blood .it looks as it a portion of stool is mixed with blood .and such portions are in 4-5 patches .any ways 1.5 weeks after that he stopped having pain on passing stool .BUt still he is having red patches .we got c difficile test done .it was negative .IS it possible that it is undigested food ?I dont think i give him something red to eat everyday but the patches are there almost everyday .Stool test was one and it didn't show any abnormality .probably I'll have to give 2-3 more samples .BUt tell me what possibilities are there .he is still having loss of appetite and thrist

FIrst things first. HOW old is he?

My 4 year old about 2 years ago had anal fissures. It was horrible for him, poor baby! He cried and was in a lot of pain. He also had blood in stool with each bowel movement. We were suppose to wash him with warm water with a baby wipe(sensitive wipe/no perfume because let me tell ya those wipes hurt too) and when he wiped he would still feel pain. We had to keep giving him vasaline on his toosh or aquafore if you have it(aquafore is best but expensive). also the dr. prescribed (Lactolose) it is something that makes poop softer in order for his toosh to heal properly. IF he is eating foods that arent fibery and he is still passing formed or hard stools then he wont heal. Soften up his poop for about 2 weeks and see if that works.

Weather he is older or not the trick is still the same. Although as older children hate to talk about stuff like but it has to be done. Talk to dr. about the Lactolose. But forewarning, get him to the potty when he says he has to go;) .
