View Full Version : Asthma and use of antihistamines/decongestant

My teenage grandson has asthma for 4 years and is using two inhalants plus an antihistamine-D that has pseudoephedrine as prescribed by the allergist.
Since asthma(as I understand it) is an issue with restricted airways/breathing, why would he be taking an antihistamine with an ingredient that constricts airways?
Thank you, Donegal27

The -d is a decongestant. If he doesn't have congestion, he doesn't need that. Use the version without the -d. But he evidently has allergies or allergy triggers for the asthma.

He does have allergies but wouldn't that D part cause his airways to constrict and pose a threat to an asthma attack?

It should just dry up the congestion.

Has your son tried Singular? That has helped me a lot. It's a once a day pill !
You may want to ask the Dr about Singular!
That's all I take but he's Asthma may be worse than mine.

Hi: You know household cleaners are hard on asthma, in fact contributing to it. Check out the EPA site at www.epa.gov , they aren't goping to attack any products, but at least they are showing some consumers whats causing some of our health issues. I suffered from sinus for 35 years, no one helped until I helped myself with mostly natural products , but do use some that have some drugs in it but I have no side effects. Ron in MN
