what exactly builds better? ive heard people say both...I hear people on here tell me a lot that weight builds muscle more...but a fitness trainer at my Aunt's gym said rep is better... thepumpingstation.com suggests rep routines and thats what ive been doing for a year and a half also some weight routine too though but thats on free time usually in between routine days exc. I just want to get the facts straight on the issue...rep weight has worked really good so far...but I figure if weight works better...why would I do rep...

8-12 reps, at a heavy enough weight that you CANT do more than 12.

If you can do more than 12 reps raise the weight.

do this 3 times. lowering the weight if need be.

thanks...thats exactly what I do now...just had a lot of people telling me 5 reps at a higher rate would work better..but I have had good gains with current routine so I stuck to it...but for bench I do 12x 10x 10x 8x 6x lets say I can do 135lbs 15x but I dont want to wear myself out too bad and not be able to finish the set..so I usually start out with 135 anyways...but lets say the max I can do 12x is like 145...would it be better to start at 135 to make sure I finish it..or 145 and just take a little longer breaks to get ready for the next step...ive been doing the 135 but I can start at 145 and go up from there..just a lot harder
