Are there any avid cyclists here? I've decided to purchase a bicycle and need help with choosing a brand. I have some brochures on Treks and Gary Fishers. Are these good brands? Most likely I will buy either a comfort bike or a moutain bike. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate hearing them. Thanks in advance. :round:

I don't know anything about bikes really, but I mountain bike alot and have had alot of brands. Don't go for generic names like Huffy and Mongoose. Go for a bike that is light and durable. Also make sure it fits you right. The two mountain bikes I have now are both Gary Fishers and they've been excellent!

hi dont go for a "universal" brand bike they have a tendancy to collapse at the middle of the wheel(where spokes meet), i dislocated my elbow on a brand new 1 they denied it was there fault but a little research done by myself has revealled this common problem with them thanx to bike shops the price is rite for these bikes but....................... good luck

It all depends on what type of biking you want to do.

For Beginner to Intermediate Mountain/Trail Bikers, I suggest Specialized RockHopper line is light, durable, and the most bang for the buck (in my opinion).

For road biking, i suggest LeMond.

Trek, Cannondale, GaryFisher, GT, are excellent bikes as well but probably will cost you more than you want to spend, and (in all honesty, not trying to be rude) if you need to ask you most likely won't benefit from the differences they offer.

Hope this helps!
