View Full Version : Cold and pain ( ear infection? )

Ok, I have had this cold since thursday and it does not get better. I'm not that congested anymore but since yesterday I have this strange ache on the right side of my head. The pain is mostly behing my throat and down my neck but a little upwards too, behind my nose cavity and towards the cheek, all on the right side. My neck also hurts on the outside so it hurts when I turn my head to either side. It doesn't look swollen on the outside. I just don't know what this is. I've head sinus problems before and it doesn't feel like my sinuses. Could it have anything to do with my ear? My ear dosen't hurt that much when I tug on it but it feels a little congested and hearing is a little down.
I may have a mild fever but I'm not sure because my thermometer is old and not trustworthy. Another sidenote, the pain does not go away with advil, dayquil or sudafed.
Any advice?

It sounds like it could be an ear infection, congestion in your ears or a infection which has settled in your throat. Unless it is just congestion, which will go away on its own usually, you will probably need an antibiotic, so I would call the doctor.

Thank you for your reply!
I did go to the Dr this morning and was diagnosed with acute tonsilitis and acute sinusitis. He prescribed Augmentin and decongestants. I have been miserable so I'm glad to get something and hope to feel better soon.
