Hello ,
Last week 2-16-07 I celebrated 8 months of quitting smoking. I'm really happy about this milestone but I'm still craving and thinking about smoking. Not to the point of going out and buying some or smoking but missing it. When will this go away??? Or will it ever?? However, I'm really proud of myself. This is by far the most Difficult thing I have ever done in my life. Now I must start a plan to loose weight. I've gained about 10 pounds since my quit and I now have hbp. It is amazing, when I was smoking I didn't have any of the issues or problems I now have. Anyway, I know in the long run my quit makes for a healthier me. Patcher

Congrats Patcher!! :blob_fire I don't know if the thinking about smoking ever goes away completely.....over a year and I still think about it but only think!!
The weight sometimes comes from substituting food for smoking and that can be managed. About the hbp....mine came down big time after I quit!! :p

Good luck to you and keep up the good work.

Awesome patcher!! :bouncing: I quit 9 months ago and I still miss it, not like at the beginning though. I just have split second cravings and they pass quickly. I've heard of people quitting 20 years ago that still think of cigarettes. :dizzy:

Good luck and let us know how you are doing! :D

Hello,
I miss you. Haven't been on the board a lot. Kids have been sick and I've been running around a lot. Overall, I'm hangin in there. One day at a time. I'm just waiting for it to kick in... when I'll feel GREAT!!!! consistently. But I guess it's a mind set.......... Take care. Patcher

patcher,
Congratulations on 8 months!! Way To Go!! I think for some people the cravings never fully leave, but are managable. I've been quit for a little over 6months now and I rarely have cravings any more. I was talking to one of
my aunts the other day and telling her how well I was doing and she told me that ever once in a while she gets an urge to smoke and she hasn't smoked in over 30 years!! So I guess it's an individual thing.
The 10 pound weight gain is about normal. If it is where you can go walking (outside, gym or treadmill), that should help bring the weight down as well as your blood pressure.
Congratulations on becoming a non smoker!!!

Liamsmom,
Congratulations to you, too!! You seem to be doing pretty good with your quit. I think attitude has a lot to do with it. Don't you? It seems like the theme for today is weight! Like you, I had much rather weigh a little more and be able to breathe easier than still be sucking on those cancer sticks.

I'm with you Memaw I a wee bit more than a few pounds but a few yrs back I managed to lose 67 lbs so I know I can do it I just have to get motivated.

Patcher I'm so glad you popped in I was thinking about you. I'm sorry the gang is sick but you know what they say when it rains...... hope you can swim.

I'd just like to point out that if you can quit with everything life has tossed your way you are one STRONG woman...... Your my hero chin up and keep on keepin on girl!!!!!!
