I have many back probelems...but it feels like the whole thing is just throbbing on some days. According to MRI's, I have herniations C5-C8, T7-T8 fusion, T9-T12 herniations, and Lumbar L3-L5 herniations with Sacral Stenosis.

I feel like I'm going nutty b/c its like musical chairs of mod-severe pain all over my back all day long.

Could it just be really advanced arthriris?? What would that be like???

thanks.

Hi Babs,

I started having all sorts of pains in my spine when I turned 33 (im now 38), although I've had all sorts of joint pains everywhere else since I was 20. I went several years getting worse & worse...I've had pains migrating up & down my spine, swellings in my lower spine, tenderness, stiffness, spasms, etc...a little over a year ago I was diagnosed with DDD, spondylosis (spinal OA) several disc herniations, and lumbar spinal stenosis. I pretty much couldnt even walk anymore. Last Sept. I finally had surgery for the stenosis, which was a big relief! But things like this can, unfortunately, even happen to children. There are all sorts of arthritis that can affect younger people.
If you have all those disc herniations and stenosis, most likely you have degenerative disc disease and spinal osteoarthritis. However, there could even be an inflammatory disease, such as AS or maybe even RA or something like that.

I know exactly how horrible the pain gets and how it can get you down, especially when you're not old.

WHat sort of doctors have you seen since your spine problems were found? Are you seeing a rheumatologist or spine specialist at all?
And what did the doc tell you about the MRI results? Did he/she offer you any advice or meds, therapies, or further testing, such as blood tests, etc..?

The short answer is 'yes', it's possible - but only your specialist can correctly diagnose for you. Do you have a scoliosis? Have you lost height?
