Has anyone ever tried zoloft of ocd.......I was on celexa/lexapro for about 4 years and it worked pretty good but then it stopped. then I went to cymbalta. Took for three months and it did not seem to be helping.
So now I am on Zoloft....Any success stories for anyone that used zoloft out there?
God Bless!

What med did you go to if you came off of the Zoloft? I feel the numbing effect as well. I think I might go back to Luvox but my docs says it is a dirty drug and a lot of things react with it.

I was on Zoloft for about a year; my doc was sure it was good for OCD. It didn't help. Lexapro seems to help me more.
I take Risperdal too.

i been on 50 mg of zoloft for going on 3 mos and it dont seem to be making a difference could anti depressents not work if you have thyriod trouble? i was on effexor xr 75 mg for 8 mos then took effexor along woth zoloft then stopped the effexor my dr had gave me celexa 20 mg but i havent started them yet which is better i have depression ,panic attacks, and agraphobia .along with my thyriods are out of whack been on my thyriod meds now for 6 weeks on 25 mg dose im to be retested this week .if thyriod is messed up could that be a reason my anti depressents dont work well i also take xanax 1 mg 3 times a day and sometimes they dont work either .

Vicki, you sound like the same problems my wife is having. Break-thru anxiety that Xanax doesn't help and agraphobia, and no energy. YES, if this is the first you have taken Synthroid, let you find the correct dose and many of your symptoms should dissapear. Your story is common on the Thyroid boad and they can help with interperting your results. What was your TSH and other test results when they were taken.?

OCD patients need at least 200 mg of Zoloft before they'll get any relief. I was on 50 mg and still felt horrible and out of control. I went to a psychiatrist and she told me that ocd patients need at least 200 mg. She put me on 200 mg and within a week I was functioning so much more normal.

I was up to 250 mg of Zoloft AND in CBT, and I was still obsessing horribly, but that's just me. Zoloft is an excellent medication for many OCD-ers, and it would be the one I'd personally recommend. I was also on Lexapro and Prozac throughout the years. I'm a pure obsessional, so that's why I think treatment of both the medicinal and therapeutic kinds didn't help my OCD.

I love zoloft. I'm on 250 mg. and it has made a world of difference. Less than 200 really did nothing for me. I still have the thoughts now and then but not nearly as often.

It can take awhil to stabilize and we have been riding the rollercoaster for months. Have you been checked for Hashimotos? My wifes TSH was 22 when it was first checked. The optimal range is different for each person, but most feel best at less than 2.

I am 72 years old with many health problems. Zoloft has help me cope and has given me mental energy to do things. I have a lot of dreams, but few are bad, mostly about my past life and friends, which is really sometimes comforting. My daughter is 38 and takes it also with good results.
