I got a GTT done last year - results were:

fasting: 3.8 mmol/L
1 hour: 4.9
2 hour: 4.6

Pretty good. However, my insulin levels indicated insulin resistance, so I started Metformin. After 10 months on Metformin, I have had a GTT done again. This time my insulin levels are lower - but still too high - but these are my glucose levels:

Fasting: 4.2
1 hour: 5.2
2 hour: 5.8

Does this sound concerning to you??? I thought your glucose was supposed to peak at 1 hour and not keep rising at 2 hours?? I am a little worried about these results!

I am waiting to hear back from my GP... I want a referral to an endocrinologist!

Any help / comments would be greatly appreciated.

Those results are excellent. The fact that your insulin levels are down means the metformin is doing it's job. Congrats!

Hey,

Thanks for this... I understand the levels are still low, BUT isn't it unusual to have the 2 hour level higher than the 1 hour??

That is my main concern. I am sure this is unusual. I am also concerned that the 2 hour level has increased by 1.2 in a year when I have worked so hard to be super healthy (I am healthy weight, eat healthy and exercise on a daily basis). If it keeps rising like this, in two years (at the age of 26) it will be in the "impaired glucose tolerance" range. It is just ringing big bells in my head that it's a sign that things have gotten worse in the glucose tolerance area. This freaks me out because there is nothing more I can do to improve things, and when I look at these results I think I am going to be diabetic before I am 30 and there is nothing I can do to stop it.
