My dad just called to say that he has a kidney tumour, almost certainly malignant, and has to have his kidney removed at the end of March.
He sounds pretty laid-back about it, but he never likes a fuss anyway, so he may be more worried than he admits!
They seem to be pretty sure that it hasn't spread anywhere and that this surgery will be the end of it.
Anyone had experience of this (good or bad)?

my husband had one of his kidneys removed 11 years ago. it was removed 4 months after it was discovered. He is still alive and did not have any other treatments for that cancer at that time.

Thanks for that. He has now decided to pay out for private treatment and will be having the kidney removed on 10th March, which I think is a sensible decision. Gives far less time for it potentially to spread. I'm keeping my fingers very tightly crossed that it all goes well and it turns out not to have spread at all.
