Can lung cancer also be genetic? Is there a test for it, like there is breast cancer? My mother had several forms of cancer throughout her life (cervical/uterine, breast, and lung) and died at 59 with lung cancer. My grandfather died from lung cancer, and my uncle too. I've had several scares for breast cancer in the past few years, but I'm more worried about the lung cancer. I do not smoke.
Thanks.

hi Shannon-
I think lung cancer has genetic favorabilty, so given the right conditions it could present itself. My wife has non-small cell lung cancer and never smoked, but lung cancer runs in her family (grandfather/uncle of the same side).
I think if you are concerned about it, then learn what signs to look for and take as many preventative measures as you can, which should start with a healthy diet and supplements to keep your immune system as strong as possible. If we had known what to look for we could have caught it long before we did ....and so could our family doctor. But when you don't smoke you generally don't think lung cancer.
