I was wondering if anyone here has eaten sea vegetables? I've heard about how nutritious various sea vegetables are.

Concerned Male 02-22-2007, 04:37 PM I was wondering if anyone here has eaten sea vegetables? I've heard about how nutritious various sea vegetables are. Sponsor Lenin 02-23-2007, 09:13 AM I've tried a couple different seaweeds that I bought in Chinese groceries over the years, I usually chop them up and cook them into chicken broth with perhaps some dried mushrooms, tofu, some snow peas...whatever I have around. Often I stir in an egg for an "egg-drop." Anyone whose ever had sushi rolls (like California roll) has eaten the wrapping which is seaweed. They generally taste kind of innocuous and sometimes have something of a gelling effect. Thanks for reminding me...I have a dried pile of seaweed sheets in the pantry for ages...I'll do something with a couple sheets this weekend. The label says DRIED SEAWEED and 4 big Chinese letters, so I don't know whether its kelp, combu, or nori. Concerned Male 02-27-2007, 04:18 PM You're welcome. So are seaweeds pretty nutritious then? Do some of them have a strong smell to them? |
