Hi! never done this before. I have been suffering from depression & PTSD for about ten years on and off. It's back, but this time i can't seen to shake it. I feel so lonely, useless, anxious & exhausted. I don't want to do anything. My house is a mess. I yell at my kids all the time. I feel as if i can't do anything right. I have no interest in food what so ever & have been crying at the drop of a hat. My counsellor said to me the other day this maybe as good as your life will get. I am currently taking advanza. Can anyone out there help? Thanks.

Hi, i no what your going through...and i'm not going to pretend to know what to do to make it better- just advice. You need to eat. I've always found that when i get wierd about eating i get despressed, its because the body can't regenerate or cope with no food. So no matter how crap you feel- get something down you- just a salad would be better than nothing.
Whenever you feel like you can't move or do anything because you feel so bad, take deep breathes, close your eyes and just think of nothing - ignore the panick just say (in your head) "im not going to panick" "quiet"..it often works and calms you. Alternatively if you aren't doing much you need some fresh air. just go for a walk outside just for 2 minutes - whether it's cold or hot the outside and seeing some different scenery will refresh you.
Another thing which i have found works- i don't know if you get this- but i keep getting really warm or just plain hot when im down and although the thought might be quite "ahhh!!" taking a medium to cold shower makes you feel tonnes better!
Do you see just a councellor?- because you are likely to get more help if you go to the dr.s and then see a psycologist or psychiatrist..although councellors can be more relaxing and less tense to talk to.
Hope at least some of this helps you.
xx

hi so fresh 2,

i'm sorry about how you feel, but you're not alone. we're all here for the same reason, to get support that otherwise, we might not get, or it may not be enough from those around us...you're always welcome here.

avanza is also known as remeron, here in the u.s. i don't know for how long you've been taking it, but as you probably know (and sorry if i'm repeating this), it takes from 4-6 weeks for you to get some benefit from it.

i've read that when one first takes this medication, it causes sluggishness and sleepiness, but it should go away during the first 1-2 weeks....

however, if you still don't feel any improvement after the amount of time they say for you to wait to give the drug the "benefit" of doing its work in your body, i would go check with the dr. who prescribed it to you, since it may not work for you.

i wish you all the best!!!

. My counsellor said to me the other day this maybe as good as your life will get.

i'm a bit disturbed by your counselor's statement, there!!! is it possible to search, ask friends, your psychiatrist, primary care dr. to refer you to another counselor? this is not something you should be hearing from someone who's supposed to offer you help, assistance, new coping skills on how to handle life situations, and instill self-esteem, and a sense of optimism in the future.

just my opinion,

pls. take care of yourself!
and like Different_Girl said, pls force yourself to eat...even a piece or two of toast.

Hi Dakota Skye. Have an appointment to see a G.P on Monday, to get a referral to see a psychologist. With the meds side of things i have been on avanza ( remeron) for a couple of years now. But doesn't seem to have the same affect as it used to. thanks. Will keep you posted.
