as i have been reading the posts, it seems like a lot of people have switched antidepresents for various reasons.

I was wondering when you switch medicine are you basically starting back at square one.

I have to switch medicines now and I am just annoyed because I feel like i am starting all over again - is that the case or is has it been different when switching meds?

thanks!

hi studio,

"I was wondering when you switch medicine are you basically starting back at square one."

yes and no. i don't think we're starting at the begining. i think we're trying something better, in the hope we'll feel better. in switching meds, drs. will not usually take you completely off of one med. before introducing another, so that you will not go through so many side effects and won't feel the symptoms come back "full force." they will wean you off the first med , while introducing the new med. at least that's what's been happening to me, and i know quite a lot of people whose drs. proceeded in the same fashion. so, try not to feel annoyed. it's most likely for your mental well-being that you and your dr. decided to switch the medications. try to look at it as progress, not as regression of any sort.

wishing you the best!!!
