What are some things that you enjoy about not smoking now that you have quit?
One thing for me is I don't have the constant hassle of figuring out if I have enough cigarettes to last through work, tonight, the weekend, etc. What a pain! I always bought them by the carton but it seems like I was always having to take time to stop and buy them to avoid the scary thought of "Running Out!" Now my life doesn't revolve around cigarettes and I have more money, too!:D
Another thing is I don't have to worry about smelling like cigarettes. I always felt self conscious about it before.:o I'm amazed at how I can smell them on people now that I'm not smoking...and it's not a nice smell. :(

I never had the cough, but always worried about the smell, used lots of perfume which I'm sure reeked, and blew dry my hair alot. Also, where can you smoke where nobody can see you - and if they did see you, they were probably thinking "poor soul, addicated to nictione, how disgusting". That's how I felt they saw me. I'm trying to figure out how much my hubby and I saved today by not smoking! I'm thinking we retire sooner than we had planned now! WOO HOO for non-smokers!!

My husband and coworkers nagging me about smoking, the money I was spending per pack and of course my health. I also like that fact that my car smells and looks better on the inside. I didn't realize how much ashes my car accumulated because of my smoking.
I love that my smell is getting better. I didn't realize how much smoking really stinks! My sister-in-law was smoking and man, the odor was so strong. I'm guessing I was smelling like that, too.
Another great benefit of not smoking is finding this board and meeting all the folks on here!

Congratulations MellieMel, that is awesome!!! :blob_fire :blob_fire Just think, in 50 years when you tell your grown grandkids that you used to smoke cigarettes, they'll ask what a cigarette is! :D Good luck and keep us up to date on how you are doing!!

THere are sooo many but I'll give it a whirl: feeling better (my breathing was really getting bad and I felt better on day 1), having more time (I was shocked how much I got done on Sat. -- no cigarette breaks/rewards), not smelling like a cig (peeeeeee uuuuuuuuuu) and I think best of all not feeling 'dependent'. I certainly don't miss driving with the window down in the freezing cold (I can't stand smoke trapped in a car so always smoked with the window ALL the way down----brrrrrr and um, stupid!
Two weeks, 13 hours, 52 minutes and 50 seconds. 437 cigarettes not smoked, saving $114.80. Life saved: 1 day, 12 hours, 25 minutes.

1- I'm so happy that I have quit. It has lifted a load of stress off my shoulders.
2- Not getting up and going outside when it's below zero to have a cig (didn't smoke in house)
3- not having to think of an excuse to sneak out during work to have a cig
there are more, but these are the ones I am enjoying today!

Yeah, the standing outside---been there, done that. Well, we're not only going to be healthier but obviously smarter too. :D

I remember those times standing in the cold or even the rain! What an idiot I was, all because I was addicted to the nicotine. Or walking way behind my friends/family while out in public and feeling like an outcast of something. I definitely don't miss "the one that stinks of smoke". I remember walking in a area and some kid was like, "She stinks like smoke!" How embarrassing.
