I have been having yellow and clear phlegm coming from my nose/sinuses since Thanksgiving and after trying several things am exasperated in terms of finding a solution.
Most days, I only have yellow phlegm in the AM but blow my nose periodically throughout the day. On some other days, I don't have any yellow phlegm while other days I have it in the AM as well as occasionally throughout the day. I did have a "true" cold for 2 weeks at beginning of Jan, but this doesn't feel like a cold because I don't really have other symptoms other than feeling somewhat more tired than normal. I don't smoke. I went to a dr. and he said it was unclear whether or not it was a sinus infection. I usually avoid antibiotics but finally gave in to taking Amoxicillin. I started on Monday but today AM had more yellow phlegm from the back of my nose/throat. At this point, I don't know what to try next. Is this really likely an infection or possibly a very long-term virus or series of low-grade viruses? Any advice appreciated.
