Last Tuesday night I came home from the mall with two friends. I had also had 2 LATE nights before that. Now I actually wasn't too tired or worn out feeling, considering, but we all got pretty tired at the mall and decided to go home. I came home feeling fine, but was tired. The next morning I woke up at 9:00 (break from college) and I was completely fine didn't hurt, wasn't running a fever NOTHING. Then I fell back to sleep (which often happens when I don't move fast enough :P) and I woke up at 9:30 with a burning hot head and a stuffy nose and aches all over my body. The aches I thought were from sleeping wrong on the bed, the hot head, I thought well maybe I slept with the blankets over me (I didn't know much about the flu at all) so I shrugged those off but the stuffy nose told me I wasn't feelin good. Well, I normally wouldn't have told anything to my mom (I'm 17) because it wasn't that bad, but I had an even that weekend I wanted to go to. I was complaining on the couch and watching tv and mom comes over to check my head and she's like your burning up. I said I don't feel that bad, so I went around and did my normal stuff, but at 5 I was beat and went back to sleep. I set my alarm for 6:30, and I knew something was wrong when I went to sleep and woke up thinking I had been out for hours and I asked mom what time it was (being too weak to look at the clock at this point) and she told me it was something like 5:15, I had only been asleep maybe 7 or 8 minutes & I was sweating and burning up and could barely talk, mom thought I was just tired, I couldn't even get the words out to tell her how I was feeling, and she checked on me like 10 times. I kept falling asleep on and off until 8pm when mom came to check on me again. I kept trying to get up and trying but I couldn't, it was somewhat like when you are a kid and your parent wakes you up early in the morning for something you keep saying "I'll be up in a minute I'll be up in a minute", I kept saying that in my head, it was so weird. Mom, got the thermometer and checked me and I was 103 so she took me to the emergancy room. Well, anyway they told me I had the flu. I didn't end up going to that event on the weekend obviously, but my dad and brother did. Then, my brother came home at 5:00am (overnight) and wasn't feeling good, he too now has the flu, and he has the stomach part, I have the head and throat part, yay lucky me. I had to give you all some history and I am feeling better right now, the most calm thing besides watching daytime TV I can do it type, so please bare with my long message there is a point. My mom just came back from the church that the event was held at and talked to a lady who's son goes to the youth group I go to and he now has the flu too. Plus, my friend, one of whom went to the mall with me right before I got the flu now has it, she didn't get it from me. Because, I haven't seen her since then and I know she and my brother did not talk. I have several questions I was hoping one of you may be able to answer. One, is can someone have the flu and not know it, but still pass it to people? Because, my other friend that went with me had a cough similar to mine, now she also just had pink eye and got over it before she hung out with me two nights in a row. Plus, she has a huge family and they are all public schooled and I haven't been to college between snow and breaks in a couple weeks, besides a day or two here and there. So, I don't think I got it from the college people. I thought I could have gotten it at the mall, but then why JUST NOW does my one friend have it, and why doesn't the other one have it, who was just getting over another big illness? Is it possible she has it and for some reason isn't showing the symptoms? Because, she has a baby and a person with a bad heart and lots of little kids, and like I said all in public school, I don't want her giving it to people if it's possible she has it. Because, I know without a doubt that if they found each other at this event she and my friend who has the flu would definately talk. So, in case none of that made since, don't feel bad, I'm sitting up for the first time in like 12 hours haha but if that doesn't make since can you just answer the question can someone have the flu and the germs from and with the flu, and be able to pass it on, but not the symptoms?
