Hi all, New here, but have been reading your message boards for about a month now. I was just wondering how people were feeling after quitting. I did the Chantix and have been smoke free for 9 days now. I stopped the Chantix about 5 days after quitting and I am doing fine with that. Physically I feel kind of crappy, and my brain feels a little warped. Was wondering if anyone else is feeling this and how long does it take to start feeling normal. Thank God I was pretty thin to begin with, because I have gained 11 pounds since quitting. Ugh ! Thanks for any input ! Anyone having weird heart palpatations after quitting ???

Marcief,

Why did you stop the chantix so soon?

Was not feeling well from Meds, so I cut pills in 1/2 and weaned off of them that fast. Doing OK with that, but this nicotene withdrawal really stinks.

Marcief,

It sounds like you are still not smoking which is awesome. Part of what the Chantix is supposed to do is make the nicotene withdrawal not so severe. If you don't want to take the Chantix, or maybe instead of 2 mg a day, try 1.5 mg, just don't start smoking again. You are past the worst part and the nicotene should be out of your body. You are going to need to keep yourself busy, or asleep, or snacking on a carrot, etc. JUST DON'T SMOKE as it will pass. When you say you didn't feel well, I think everyone felt a little something from the pills, but I just looked at it as putting up the walls against cigs and I could deal with it. Good luck and keep us posted.

.....have been smoke free for 9 days now. Congratulations on quitting marcief, this will be the best health decision you have ever made! Please please don't have another cigarette, if you feel like you have to, go buy the nicotine patch. Good luck and keep coming back here and update us on how you are doing.

marcief,
Were the side effects worse than what you are going through now? The chantix does cause some side effects (I've had a number of them- and sometimes they can get quite bothersome) but I know the effect of nicotine withdrawal would be worse for me. Tampaquit is right by saying you are over the worst days of the quitting so try not to go back at this point.
Good luck!
