Talk to your Neuro, If I recall often Teg tends to be adjusted during pregnancy (I think). So don't go on my bad memory and being a male (grin). As for WHY they reduce some meds, THAT I can't say as much; only speculate. You would still need to remain in a range of seizure control. (and have less "toxins" in your system, i.e. meds)

Personally, unless thats what the Dr ordered for reduction rate (time) for Topa, I would drop it on a weekly basis (like when starting it) to avoid reactions from withdrawl... But thats me and being overly cautious. Last time I reduced Topa my Dr wanted to drop it 100, and I suggested we go at 50. The 50's had just been issued only a few months prior and he was suprised I knew about them (the office staff were even unaware!).

Same meds as me, just different doses.

No, it's {topa) still being a curse at a total dose of 450/day. I found easy to prepare foods are somewhat of a solution, but I still have to push myself to get to EAT!! I found some 6 minute pasta's that I'm using for more than just that; I also am having dental fixed (due to dilantin and not having coverage for years, thanks Uncle Sam!).

I'm glad that Topa works to keep the seizures at bay in my case, just the eating effect that becomes a problem to deal with. So for those of you reading this, It has worked great controlling my seizures as one of my three drugs; but it's learning to adapt to it that is the challange. However I refuse to get off it after finding this good of control unless something worse comes up.

now time to get back on topic after a friendly meet.
