Hi - I started taking Chantix on 1/19/07, it worked big time. I smoked for 38 years and now I am smoke free for 26 days. The only problem is I started getting a red rash down my mouth and under neck. My whole body actually
felt very dry and I was definitely getting headaches from it. My primary doctor said to stop taking it. It's been about a week now and I am starting to feel better, but of course I'm thinking more about smoking. And I can't believe how exhausted I feel all the time, its weird really, I guess the cigarettes were like a stimulant to me.

Dang Deb! That's not good! A rash? I sure hope I don't get that. And don't even think about smoking again! 26 days is awesome. You're doing great - you should be over your withdrawals by now, I would think, and now it's just the habit calling you back.
If you're feeling exhausted, maybe you're not eating right? Are you taking a vitamin? Are you sleeping well?
I'm sorry you are going thru this, but please stay quit! You made the decision to do it, and it's one of the best things you can do for yourself. Plus, you'll start feeling better soon, I'm sure of it...
Let us know how you're doing......we're all here for you!!

Hi Deb,
Gosh, that sounds like a real bummer. You and I quit about the same time last month. I quit 29 days ago. I would imagine the really hard part about quitting is well behind you now, so if you have to stop taking Chantix, then I would hope it does not feel much different then when you were taking it. You don't smoke any more, so there is nothing for the Chantix to block. (Other then some one else's smoke... ) So at this point the Chantix was just making the cravings easier to manage. Chantix, or no Chantix: You're still going to think about smoking, but it will fade over time and worst is behind you. Please come back often and let us know how you are doing. We really wish you all the best.

Hi Deb,
Hang in there! You are stronger than you think. Let us know how you are doing.
My doctor told me to back off to .5 mg/day to see if that cures my insomnia. I'm only on day 7 of quitting (day 14 of chantix), and I'm a little nervous. Did anyone out there reduce their dosage early in their quit?
another deb!

Oh Deb, I'm so sorry you're going through all this!! You were doing so good in your quit. Please, please don't entertain the idea of smoking again. Remember, you're a quitter!! Smoking is no longer an option. Just because the Chantix is no longer working is no reason you can't still be a quitter. Make a list of the reasons you quit. Post them where you can easily see them. Take it one day at time. You can do that. One day at a time. Mark your calendar for each day that you have been smoke free. Remember if you do start back smoking, eventually you will have to go through withdrawals again. Now you don't want to that. That's just not fun!!
Good Luck to you!! Please keep coming back here and posting and let us know how you are doing. When an urge hits you, come here and post. You can't type and smoke at the same time.

thanks for your good wishes, that probably is it, I do need to start taiking a good vitamin. I feel so much better not taking the Chantix, and not smoking. It is a very liberating feeling to not have to go and get cigarettes all the time. I love it.

Terrific!!! I had a good feeling you were going to fly through this without any problems. Please check in when you've a chance and let us know how your doing. No Chantix, no smokes, and you're feeling pretty good - I guess that means you're part of the "excellerated class". I'll bet you graduated school early. :p We're still rooting for you!!!
