Hello. Male 60. Bowel cancer diagnosed Autumn 05, 5 week course of radiotheraphy + chemo, then operation in Jan 06. Coped well with ileostomy which was reversed in April 06. After 6 weeks had bouts of stopping passing wind/bowel movements followed by sickness (digestive disruptions!)weekly. Once 'sick', rear end would recommence Severe at first, then lessening with time period widening to over 4 weeks gaps. Recently changed to stomach/bowel discomfort and feeling nauseous (but not actually sick - so maybe I should be grateful for small mercies!). Diet is kept reasonably bland - chicken, pasta, not too many vegetables.
Anyone had similar 'side effects'? and suggestions?
CTScans & colonoscopy, subsequent to op, all show clear and the biopsy on the bowel removed showed no live cancer cells.

Hi Tony,

I am sorry, but I don't really have any answers for you. What does the dr say about the problems you have been having? When my husband had his colon resection it took a while for everything to start working like it should. The dr said it would have to "learn" how to work again. I hope everything will straighten out soon.:) dee

Thanks Dee. Consultant says everyone is different and did advise my symptoms could arise. Some people evidently just have one bout (caused by the adhesions/scar tissue around the ileostomy join) and others get it so severely they have to have further surgery to try to lessen the scar tissue. I was interested to see if my symptoms were similar to anyone else's. When it's 'you', I guess we all think we're unique!! They have certainly changed over the 9 months since the reversal, so hopefully I'll continue to progress.
