I am a newbee, I have never asked a question on a mess. board and to find this one is great. As in life its never just one thing I'll have to give some background then would love to hear if any of you have had anything like this, and apologize now, but I don't talk to anyone about these problems no one wants to hear about others cronic pain, except other pain suffers, so thank you.:)and what I should be asking my dr Urol. tomarrow
I have 3 blown disk L5 4/5 3/4 have had many inj and diskagram to confer where pain is coming and going too. back, left flank, hip.....ooooh same as stones, I am in full time pain from back, manage with pain meds waiting to get worse before fusion or disk replacement.
I have always had small amount of blood in my urin, just me I guess. But for the past 2-3 years, have had gross blood in ur. only last one day, always in morning and at that time find it very hard to pee but manage. have had many cat scans, had 3 cyctos, there are stones in both kid.and all are 3mm or smaller. when my back bain is just so much worse I tend to think its time for a stone. pain in groin, back, even down leg. (also same sys. as disk pain).
Just had another gross blood, like red wine last week, went in next day, gave a clean catch (cath). and no infect. . nothing really comes up.why would someone bleed like that? sent in for check, nurse called back to say dr wants me to come in and talk to dr urol..
In the past the dr always kinda brushes me off saying the pain you feel is your back there are no stones in the uriters, and thats when they produce pain. you may have past a stone.
but what about the blood and straining to pee??? so this is my chance to ask questions, what should I be asking?? is this just me?? I end up going in to him about 1-2 times a year to check if it is a stone.
I am not the best writer and apologize again for the jumping around in my writing.would love some advise on what I should do next.
thank you mfmissy:)

You are not alone. I have the same exact blown disks as you and went in for a nerve block. The procedure was stopped when my bp was elevated. Further eval showed it was stones - wa la!

Now when I blow out my back I wonder too. Some ways to tell - is the pain near the ribs - if yes - Stones.

Does the pain exist on both side and is aggravated by movement - if so - Back.

Straining to pee is symptomatic of both especially with the herniation where they are.

The blood should be a sign of stones but can also be unrelated to either.

Good luck and let us know what doc says.
