Out of curiosity -- this could be my imagination -- it seems whenever I get cold, flu, or even when I had mono that the first place I feel bad is in my neck where my osteo is so bad. I know the body gets achy with the flu as a rule. But it seems the same other viruses. Any comments?

Hi Twells,

I was told by my specialist that it was a virus that triggered my AS off. So my answer would be yes. I am just reading his thesis and it suggested many years ago that viruses can trigger the HLA gene into working. All kinds even sexually transmitted ones. I find menstration my biggest enemy.

Regards
Olivia :)

HI you could be right I am wating to go on embrel but my (esr & crp) are to low and my rhumi said if I get a cold or the flu thay will go up and have a blood test. And thay might be up so in your case your OS might be more active when you have a viris.
