My internist diagnosed a cervical polyp. I have an appointment wtih the gynocologist in a few weeks. Do you know what he will do? Will I first get a biopsy?

Thanks for the information. It relieves my fears. Do you think the gynocologist will remove the polyp on the first visit?

My Doctor always just took them off during my pap test Because my polyps were on the outside (as I think most are) it was a pretty simple procedure.
Good luck!!
Let me know how it goes!

The gynocologist removed the polyp on my cervix this morning. It was not painful; he basically twisted it off. I am good to go now!

That is great news!! Are they going to biopsy it? I have had polyps all over my body and I am getting alittle tired of them.

Sorry about the prevalence of polyps on your body. Are these of concern? Or more of a nuisance?
The gyn said indicated that a biopsy is not needed - this polyp was quite innocent....a sac filled with mucous...more like a cyst. He stated that these are somewhat common and not of any concern whatsoever...
I send you best wishes,
Janet

For now they are just a nuisance, my concern is that I have some in my uterus that they can't get out due to scar tissue blocking the opening and they possibly could turn to cancer, so I would really like them out!! but the only way would be a hysterectomy which my Doctor says is more risky than the polyps turning to cancer. I have had alot of health concerns lately so I am just alittle tired.
Hope you have no more problems with them.

I had polyps in my uterus that were removed in October last year. I had to have it done in a hospital. I had a D&C with hystroscopy. Unfortunately, I just found out this week that at least one grew back, possibly more, so I have to go through the entire process all over again. :(
I wish mine were as easy as taking them off in the doctor's office. But I have to go through the whole hospital thing again with needles and anesthesia and really painful cramps afterwards. I'm just really upset about it. :( :( :(

It was my cervical polyps that the doctor took off in his office ,not the uterus polyps.
Good luck!
