Hi all,
For the last year or so I have been losing my balance a lot and I have been so so tired. A couple of months ago, I had an episode that went on for about six weeks where I kept getting my words messed up. I dont want to be a hypocondriac, but do you think this could be MS? I already have celiac disease, and I know that puts me at higher risk for MS, but I dont want to "scare" myself into a disease. What do you think?

Have you had an MRI of the brain and/or spine? Most, not all, but most people with MS will show lesions. This is usually the first big step when looking at MS as a diagnosis. If you're at a higher risk for MS, it might be time to rule it out or in. Get a referral to a neurologist and just see where it goes from there.

Good luck!

When I was fifeteen I was having really bad migranes where I would lose vision for a couple of hours. I had an MRI that came back saying I had a brain lesion, but the neurologist said it was probably something wrong with the machine and not to worry about it.

I had a horrible time messing my words up when I had my episode. I would go see your doctor just to get his/her opinion....

I'm pretty bad with words when I am having an episode, too. The question is... do you get better after a while or is it always that same "cloudy" feeling where it takes forever to think/get out words?

So Cal Holly

It comes for a few weeks, and then goes away for months at at time.
