Of all the reasons we say we want to quit and the benefits we discover when we finally quit the greatest one for me has to be FREEDOM.
Freedom from drug addiction
Freedom from wondering where we can smoke
Freedom from worrying about the health risks
Freedom from feeling we are offending everybody when we light up
Freedom from inhaling over 4000 chemicals
Freedom from feeling like a social outcast.
Freedom from wasteing money
Freedom from smelling like an ashtray
Freedom from the stress of not being allowed to smoke in public places.
Most of us on these boards will have smoked our entire adult lives and probably have no memory of what it was like to be free. Well, if things get tough I remind myself just how much I LOVE MY FREEDOM:blob_fire

Oh that is so real TrueBrit... (Big sigh of relief here...)
Freedom from carrying the ash tray all over the house.
Freedom from spending an extra $280 for cigarettes each month.
Freedom from having to smoke out side in the rain and snow.
Freedom from washing out ash trays.
Freedom from having to make room for the ash trays.
Freedom from having to juggle a cigarette with the umbrella and briefcase in the rain.
Freedom from that damned ash tray. (Use to follow me every where...)
Sorry for the rant. This is a truly liberating thread you've started. :D
Thank you!!!

Freedom from freezing while standing outside in 20 degree weather.
Freedom to sit in a movie theater and not think about smoking instead of the movie.

Freedom to take a 5 hour plane trip and not have to rush outside to get that nicotine!! :p Or to have to fly through airports that allow smoking. :dizzy:
Freedom of the fear that I'll run out of cigs before morning.

I'm most enjoying the freedom of not worrying/thinking about having a cig.
I also really enjoy NOT buying them - I always felt embarrassed/stupid.

Me too Deb! I never bought them, I made my husband buy them. I felt like everyone in line was judging me, "Oh, how sad, she's a smoker. And look how much money those things cost!! Doesn't she realize she's killing herself!" I HATED buying them, I would wait until late at night, if I HAD to buy them, so I wouldn't run into anyone I know! OMG - I could go on with the stupid things I did being a smoker, having to hide, taking the long way to work so nobody would see me hanging it out the car window. Making up a story when I had company here, that I run to the store for charcoal, then sneaking a cig and driving around hanging my head out the window trying to get the smoke out! WoW! I'm glad to be a non-smoker!!

You may be interested to know that in the UK cigs cost a massive £5.40 per pack . That is in the region of $11.00. Amazingly 20% of people still smoke. Ah well, that's drug addiction for you.
