View Full Version : Wisdom Tooth Gone Today -- Found Something in Cyst?

Hi everyone,

I just got all four wisdom teeth taken out today....so far nothing too unexpected has occurred. My question is this...the dentist said that all teeth that don't burst through the gumline keep their 'cysts' around them that need to be removed...he said when they removed and opened up mine they found something they did not immediately recognize, or something to that effect.

they said they sent the cyst in for biopsy -- I couldn't talk so I just wrote down "cancer?" to ask him if that could be it...he said probably not, just some cysts have more "aggressive material" in them.

Not quite the comforting answer I was looking for -- I am fairly certain they didn't mean aggressive as in it might crawl out and rob a liqour store. What could it be??

Thanks for responding so late at night!

I've always been pretty paranoid about jaw numbness after tooth surgery so I put it off...I didn't know cancer was a risk until I went to this guy. Now I'm 27 and I'm worried I've waited too long :-(
